Description: Starters were 'ok'. But main course completely unacceptable - v dry beef bourgogne with overcooked tagliatelle and no sauce. Tagliatelle Marine gratine was basically tagliatelle with cheese. I pointed out to the waitress that there was no seafood in it and was ignored. Very poor.

A Wednesday evening supper and lunch the next day so two reviews in one..

This was half term school holiday so two adult and two boys (10 & 12), both occasions we were served by waiters who very quite eager to help us mix between English and French. So often diners give French waiters a hard time and say they are stuffy or arrogant, this pair were quite the opposite and a table of four American ladies at lunch described one as 'a sweetie' and charming - he really was quite helpful to them.

For dinner I had Entrecôte steak med rare which was pretty good, the boys both had beef bourguignon which was a first for them and they liked it. The good lady wife had steak hachette with snails to start whilst I had fois gras oh a nice bottle of red burgundy.

We all had puddings and the kids got lollipops both times - for lunch three of us had pizzas and one steak hachette again all good, in fact the pizza bases were very nice indeed. We had Belgium beers with lunch which is popular in France although quite expensive.

We were indoors in the evening and sat outside for lunch with the heaters on which is nice especially considering it's virtually November.

150 euros for dinner and 76 for lunch - I have used this place before and will do so again

We visited this restaurant with our friends from Lyon when travelling through the Burgundy area. We chose a fixed price lunch for 14.5 Euros each which included a pizza and dessert. This was an excellent price given it was a Sunday and the area was busy with tourists. The pizzas and the desserts were very good quality and they also had an extensive range of local wines to taste by the glass. The service was efficient. Would be happy to return to this restaurant when next in Beaune.

After driving two hours from home, waiting three hours in SFO and driving from Paris to Beaune . . . we were, in a word, EXHAUSTED. Our plan was to have a very light meal at a wine bar and then call it a day (or two). The wine bar recommended by our high end B & B didn't serve anything but cheese and sliced sausage. We strolled a few blocks away and found a busy area of colorful restaurants, cafes, wine bars and shops and soon settled on Brasserie Carnot because of little more than hunger and a good feeling about the place. Both were satisfied.
We started outside but not under the extensive awning--because of a sudden downpour we immediately moved to a satisfactory inside location. Our order was simple faire including an omelet and a pasta dish, both were quite generous and good as was the service. A couple of glasses of wine and some good people watching helped eliminate the trials of the day. Would definitely consider this place for a fun street side lunch on a nice day--more for its ambiance and location that any special culinary offering.

We had the most excellent breakfast in this delightful brasserie full of charm and character with pleasant and friendly staff. The best cappuccino and the fried eggs with cheese, ham and dressed green salad was delicious and just what one needed to set you up for the day!

We had breakfast two days in a row here and after a couple of weeks in France eggs on toast were welcome. Served with cheese ham and a little lettuce with dressing, so a bit French all the same! Very friendly staff, warm and pleasant atmosphere. The other menu items looked good and it is easy to see why the cafe is popular.
