“Creative Cuisine”
Reviewed September 24, 2012

Our host at Terre D'Or recommended L 'Ecusson on short notice. My wife and were pleasantly surprised with the creativity of the entrees (starters) and we both had the duck plat (main dish) which was grilled to perfection. It has a casual but warm atmosphere and service was attentive. Despite our shortcomings in reading French, the owners were very helpful and we were very pleased with our evening.

“Excellent”
Reviewed June 8, 2012

I booked a table at this restaurant for my partner's birthday in May and it was perfect.
We chose the degustation menu, 6 courses plus amuse-bouche and mignardises, and everything was delicious.

“Very good restaurant, original dishes, good price/quality level”
Reviewed May 24, 2012

We ate in this restaurant several years ago and were surprised by its creative menu. So when returing to Beaune, we deicded to go again and were not disappointed. The restaurant has a good wine list and several menus up to 6 courses. We had a 4 course menu, including 1 starter, main, cheese and desert. For the starter, we could choose from the cold and warm starters (with 5 course you get both). The entree was asparagus with a poached quail egg, main course was perfectly rose cooked veal. The chees trolly had a wide variety of cheeses, with some very well matured strong cheeses like Epoisses.

The wine list was extensive with enough affordable wines. We had a white Chanson Savigny les Beaune 1cru and a red Bart Marsannay, for around €40 / bottle.

“Delicious French dining”
Reviewed October 20, 2011

My husband and I ate at L'Ecusson this week. It was delicious- true French fare. The presentation was beautiful! It was a bit pricey, but if you go during lunch it's cheaper.

“Beautifully constructed food, packed full of great flavours.”
Reviewed October 1, 2011

We ate here towards the end of a three week stay in France and it was a clear winner for best restaurant of the holiday. The food was excellent, the service incredibly friendly and knowledgable and overall very good value for money, particularly given the chef's previous Michelin experience, which was clear in the dishes he prepared for us. There were some really innovative flavour combinations, the tarragon and mustard sorbet being just one example. The wine list was extensive, with something for every budget, and the cheese selection was fantastic.
The restaurant is located just outside the city walls, but only a 5 minute walk from most accommodation options. Its location keeps the cost down relative to more central options and also meant we could get a table on the day. As the restaurant becomes more established (it's less than two years old) and its reputation deservedly grows, I'm sure getting a table won't be quite as easy....
