We had just arrived in Beaune and our BnB recommended us to go to Piqu'Boef, as it was a good place and also had the advantage of being open on a Sunday. As most restaurants are closed Sunday and Monday, reservations are recommended those two days, or you have to show up right when they open at 7 pm. We got there at 7:30 pm and got if maybe the last available table.
The menu consists mostly of beef, as the name indicates. One thing you have to be aware of, is that in Burgundy their steaks are only cooked one way, and that is rare. You can ask for well done as much as you like, but any Burgundy chef with respect for the local meat, will only sear it well on the grill and leave the center rare. If you can't handle rare meat, go for a stew like beef bourguignon, where the meat is cooked through.
We had steaks and they were ok, not the best cut, but still with lots of flavor. The service was classic French, meaning you have to order in French or they will roll their eyes at you. My wife ordered in French, but I had to do it in English, which got me the "dork" look and eye roll from the waitress. And also, a note to those that was wondering why they were left waiting for their check, well that's how it works in France, they welcome you to sit after your dessert until you actively ask for your check.
So all in all, it was ok, nothing special.

We had a meal here as part of a stop over in Beaune driving from Provence to Calais. We ordered the Menu Hospice at 35 euros and had half a bottle of white santenay , plus a bottle of red Santenay (deliberately indulgent as it was the last day of the holiday). Bill for two was 124 euros. Great service , friendly reception , pleasant ambience but the killer punch was the quality of the food on the plate. Everything was perfectly done without things slipping into the excessive fussiness so beloved of the Michelin rosette cadre.
Really good regional cuisine at a fair price.

We got this address from the local b&b we are staying for a few days at lovely Beaune.
Friendly, correct, good service, my wife and i we had the filet de boeuf which was exquisit! The kidssteak was a different price and a bit less superb due to the price understandable. First bottle pf wine was not good and we got another one which was ok. Price-quality relation veru good!

My husband and I had a disappointing experience on a Saturday night. We both ordered from the "Au détour des hospices" menu (35€ pp) and were hoping for excellent steaks as the restaurant specializes in beef dishes. To our surprise they were the worst part of the meal! The meat was tough and chewy and arrived completely rare inside even if we ordered medium. A shame, because the sauces were delicious and the fries absolutely perfect. Most of the other dishes of the 4 course menu were really good as well, so it's really surprising and disappointing that they couldn't get the main course right! The fact that we had to wait 1.5 hrs for our starter also didn't help matters. The staff were slow, inattentive and didn't check on us once while we waited and waited. There were quite a few empty tables around us, where people finished eating and no one could be bothered to clean them for over half an hour.

Overall - some good food served there but if the chefs can't cook properly their signature dishes, there's no point going back. I wouldn't recommend.

We ate here at the recommendation of our B&B when we said we wanted a more simple meal after several nights of fine dining. Pizza would have been a much better choice. The service and food were terrible here. The waitress handed us our menus and reappeared within moments asking curtly for our order. Once we ordered the food was brought in rapid succession. We were barely finished with each course before our plates were whipped away. The beef bourguignon was tough, the vegetables were limp and overcooked, my husband's steak, which he ordered medium, was raw and full of gristle. Then too make matters worse after being rushed through dinner in under an hour, once our coffees were served our waitress completely disappeared. We waited FOREVER to finally get our check. There are so many restaurants in Beaune, do not choose this one.
