Fabulous place. Food was some of the best food we experienced in France on this trip. The pool was an added bonus in 30C! Gardens and house delightful. Both Jan & Peter were excellent hosts and the cold glass of wine on arrival was perfect. Definately on our list for another stay.

Room Tip: We had one of the smaller rooms which in fact was much larger than we expected and had plenty of spa...

This place is heaven! From the moment we arrived we didnt want to leave....even our 3 year old daughter appreciated the beauty!
The house and gardens are just stunning.
When we arrived Jan welcomed us, served us a glass of wine and gave us the info on the area.
We dined with them that evening and had the most fantastic time. The food was superb and our fellow guests were also super lovely people. A wonderful evening with lots of laughs and some great wines!
Like many others we sought out the vineyard that the guys recommended and bought a few cases of wine to take home!
The only tiny niggle we had was that we sometimes found it hard to get hold of one of the guys if we fancied a drink - we could have easily increased our bill had they been a little more available!
Overall though we had a memorable stay and would hope to return.

We arrived at Moulin Renaudiots on our way home after spending a month touring France. We were given a very warm welcome by Jan and Peter who showed us around their lovely house and garden. Once settled in our large and comfortable room we were offerd a very welcome glass of wine and nibbles on the terrace, where Jan gave us a lot of info. about the area, wine, restaurants etc.. We had booked for dinner with them that night, we were a little apprehensive about having a communal dinner. We were pleasantly surprised as it turned out to be a very pleasant evening, all the guests we met were very friendly and added to our experience.
Peter excelled himself in the kitchen and produced an excellent dinner, the inclusive wine was very good, so much so that we sought out the vineyard the next day. All in all the best value we had in France. It's a great base to tour the area or relax in the beautiful garden by the pool.

This is probably the best B&B in Burgundy. A beautiful old mill house just outside Autun and the Morvan national park. Beaune is within striking distance (30 mins by car) and the 'Route des Grand Crus' is 15 mins away. Jan was very helpful in detailing the local points of interest. We stayed in the Arnoux room which is one of five double ensuite (shower) rooms. The Arnoux has a sleeping area on a mezzanine floor with a large saloon below overlooking the lovely gardens.

Even though the Moulin would be a fantastic place just to stay the best feature is the table d'hote, served on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday evenings and prepared by Peter. Excellent value for money (EUR 48 all inclusive) and the best food you will find in the area. Sample menu: marinated salmon with beetroot and dill, home-made mushroom ravioli on braised rabbit, lamb two ways (fillet braised and confit leg) with wild asparagus, almond tart with pecan caramel sauce. We left with the recipe for the desert. The communal seating only adds to the experience.

The Moulin is worth a detour – we will be back.
Mike and Lesley.

My family and I stayed here three weeks ago and we absolutely loved it. A friend had recommended it and from that as well as the reveiws on here I booked it. We arrived to this beautiful place and were warmly welcomed by Peter and Jan. Jan showed us to our rooms which were lovely. My children (young adults of 22, 22 and 20) had the St Pierre room which had a seperate sitting room with combustion stove and they put a bed in here for my son. Our room (St Andre) had a lovely King size bed, lovely bathroom with fluffy towels and toiletries and was lovely and big with a couch and combustion stove. Both rooms had a wardrobe. They were beautifully decorated and luxurious rooms and looked out on the garden as they were both on the ground floor. The grounds were absolutely lovely (i'm running out of superlatives!!) with a babbling brook, green rolling hills and a lovely swimming pool that would be divine in Summer. It was all very relaxing. We were lucky enough to be there for the dinner that Peter cooks a couple of times a week. It was 48 euros per head but had been told by my friend not to miss it so we booked in beforehand. When we went upstairs after settling in we joined some of the other guests in the lounge room with an open fire, drinks and nibbles. The lounge/dining area is really lovely - beautifully decorated and comfortable. Everyone was very friendly.
We then had a 4 course meal that was sensational - goats cheese, red pepper and gremolata, a mushroom risotto, veal wellington with vegetables and a delicious tart with nuts and caramel sauce for desert. It was absolutely divine. Plenty of the local wines were included. We all sat at the long dining table and chatted to the other guests -some other Australians, Swiss and English which was great to hear all about their travels and their countries and what travelling is all about really. Peter and Jan also sits with their guests. It was a really fun night and we all chatted until quite late. They also showed us their photo album of renovating their place and all the work that had so lovingly gone into it.
Breakfast was from 9 - 10 and included baskets of pastries, croissants, bagettes and also cold meats, cheeses, yogurts as well as boiled eggs. This was included in the room charge. We had breakfast with the other guests and we all swapped ideas on what to see in this beautiful area. Jan also had lots of suggestions and advice on what to see and several books and information for us to look at which was a big help. My daughter and I had thoroughly researched every aspect of our month long trip but it was great to get the locals viewpoint on what to see and do and to realise we were being unrealistic with what we were wanting to do (we'll just have to come back!) Although coming all the way from Sydney our trip was jam packed so we could see "everything" and I am always wanting to be on the go and am pretty hyper, Moulin Renaudiots gives you such a sense of relaxation - it's just wonderful. On our 2nd night the children had a fire in their room while we had a drink upstairs around the fire. Jan recommended a local restaurant - Le Chapitre - in the gorgeous little town of Autun only 5 minutes away by car. He rang and booked it for us and it was beautiful and very French. Another couple staying didn't want to go out for dinner and instead had bought food to have a picnic. Jan set the table for them even though the boys weren't doing dinner that night. We had been told by Jan and Peter that if we needed anything all we had to do was knock on the door to their rooms. On the morning we were leaving the markets were on in Autun so we popped into town before breakfast.
This area is absolutely beautiful with all the vineyards and beautiful little towns. We found a wonderful little winery well worth a visit - Christophe Vaudoisey in the little town of Volnay.
I really hope to come back to Burgundy - it is such a beautiful area and we would definitely stay at Moulin Renaudiots again and recommend it to anyone going to Burgundy. It is beautiful and relaxing and Peter and Jan are wonderful hosts. We all loved it - in fact my daughter who writes a blog did a blog post on our stay there - http://www.thelittlesthings.com/2012/04/moulin-renaudiots.html so have a look on here and you'll see why we loved it.

Sorry guys but it feels like we intruded on your immaculately decorated house staying here. The welcome was nice, but the service was very limited. There was no way to ask for any food or drinks, and we sure didn't pay that price to dine with other guests at dinner and then again at breakfast. Privacy needs to be an option. Whilst dinner was truly amazing, the nights you offer no food are awkward given that you don't allow food in the room. This means you must drive out for dinner, which is not ideal for everyone. The breakfast timeslot should be expanded to a larger window instead of only one hour - if one needs to leave before 9am then breakfast is forfeited. This was supposed to be our holiday, but we just felt like we were tiptoeing around and intruding. If you want people to stay then make people feel at home - otherwise get someone else to run the place or sell it and move on. Very disappointed.

We arrived from London en route to Italy to a very warm welcome and just in time for drinks before dinner. The owners, Jan & Pieter are truly fantastic hosts. There are only 5 rooms and guests are encouraged to have drinks together and dine at one table. The other guests came from Texas, London and another couple from another area of Burgundy. The house has been beautifuly restored and the rooms are very comfortable. Dinner was superbly cooked by Pieter. NB. Dinner is not served every evening so if you're staying only one night, do check as it's a shame to miss this. There's a great pool in stunning gardens and interesting walks if you're staying longer.

Autun is definitely worth visiting for the Cathedral and ancient Roman ruins. It was calm and quiet and perhaps we timed it well but appears to have avoided being a huge tourist trap.
