We last went to this restaurant a little over two years ago as it was recommended by the manager of the Hotel Elisabeth. Then it was run by a lovely couple in their late fifties. We went back to find that the previous proprietors have semi-retired to the countryside and a new young management taken over last June.
We wondered if the peevious excellent standards had been maintained. They hadn't. They'd been exceeded!
We went for the €30 menu and everything was wonderfully cooked and beautifully presented. Two complimentary dishes were brought before the starters we had ordered: a ewe's milk mousse and a little 'casserole dish' of chestnut soup. For starters the missus went for the pumpkin soup with frois gras and I had the crab terrine, both first class. We both had the veal kidneys for main course and they were beautifully pink inside as ordered. The tarte tartin for her and cheese plate for me rounded off the long, lazy French lunch we'd travelled from Jersey to enjoy.
This restaurant is tucked away just off the main 'tourist strip' of pizzas and moules-frites and well worth seeking out. Go now before the awards come in and the prices go up!
