Autour du Beurre is a stylish gourmet restaurant inside the walls in Saint-Malo. It’s located in a renovated old building and the decoration of the dining room is very modern and interesting. The personnell is friendly and professional and everybody can speak english. Already from the kitchen greetings it was clear that something special is coming up. The regular bread basket comes with 10 different flavoured butters, which are really good and make you eat too many pieces of bread in the beginning. We had wegetable moussee and tuna for starters and cod and John Dory fillet as main course and all portions were innovative, beautiful and tasty. Due to the butter in the beginning and relatively large portions, we had to skip the dessert. Autour du Buerre is definitely worth visiting and perfectly tops our four day visit in Saint Malo.

What a lovely restaurant, on a small blackboard it says “Butter is the major ingredient “ with a basket of bread you get a tasting sample of eight butters, including a fennel butter, spicy butter and even a raspberry butter! We had a set lunch menu which was extremely well cooked and presented consisting of warm and cold melon in a sweet pepper sauce with an olive cream, followed by pollock with squid served on a fricassee of vegetables with a coriander butter sauce. Dessert was a chocolate butter mousse on a chocolate covered popped rice bed served with a strawberry sorbet. A delightful lunch!

The linked butter and cheese store next door was recommended to me by friends who used to live nearby. They were very excited to hear there was now a bistro. The food was seriously good. Not at all pretentious, a lovely cosy place with great menu and good cellar with local specialities. The butter and cheese are of course famous and for very good reason. Loved this place!

We had heard that butter in Brittany is delicious, so this bistro is the place to try it. It was that and much more, I loved this place. Everything was delicious, I can only recommend it to everyone to don't miss it. You can taste several flavors of butter as part of the couvert. The dessert (a Paris Brest repaginated) was spectacular.

Seriously one of the best meals we have ever had anywhere. This was perfection from beginning to end. The place itself has a laid back, really funky cool decor with a cow theme given the specialty in butter and the other local specialities. The selection of butters was really innovative and absolutely delicious. We skipped a first course because WHY when there is delicious bread and all these different butters to enjoy? Our favorites were the seaweed and the toasted buckwheat, but they were all delectable. We each ordered the sole meuniere, which was divine with the best white asparagus I have ever had. All beautifully flavorful and brimming with freshness. The cheese selection was extraordinary and our server was wonderful in helping us select some delicious examples. Dessert was both beautiful and absolutely delicious.

The wine list is excellent. The service is excellent. The food is excellent. We both loved it and cannot recommend it enough. Just go. And enjoy.
