Le Valmarin is a grand house, with lots of history, kept really nicely. It is an architectural classic, with beautifully-proportioned rooms and all of the wonderful fixtures and fittings of an elegant, historic French house. There cannot be many opportunities to stay in such a house.
The house is very tastefully decorated, with lovely traditional French furniture. It's light and spacious and there is a nice quiet garden and off-street parking to the rear. Don't expect modern power showers etc, but everything does work!
It is perfectly located for a walk around the old part of St Malo, with some excellent small restaurants within easy reach, on foot. Breakfast was generous and had lots of local delicacies, and the rate seemed very reasonable.
This is a place to come and change down a gear. Come here if you appreciate a charming, elegant, historic house and a very helpful, friendly welcome.
We highly recommend a visit.

Room tip: It's not a noisy area, but rooms facing over the rear garden will be quieter and have a lovely view.

Lovely old building with good sized bedroom and bathroom. We had 16 which was at the front of the house facing the road. There are other rooms overlooking the gardens. There is off loading parking on the street and parking for cars behind the garden. For
breakfast we were served delicious coffee, croissants and fresh bread with homemade jams and yoghurts. I would say it is a little pricey as there is nothing extra, no kettle for tea, etc in the room, no water provided.

Room tip: Ask for a garden view

Le Valmarin issimply delightful in every way - the rooms, breakfast room and garden are fabulous and the location could not be more perfect.
I had to leave early on the morning and the wonderful hosts organised a special breakfast and coffee to be set up specially - I highly recommend Le Valmarin as a special place to stay!

A beautiful historic house with a warm welcome and delicious breakfast. We had a family room which was really spacious and very elegantly furnished. I woke in the morning to the sound of the seagulls after a wonderful nights sleep (great bed and quality linen). The location is super, just a couple minutes walk from a variety of harbour side reastaurants and just a few minutes drive from the ferry terminal. However my favourite thing about Le Valmarin was the lovely welcome we received from Francoise. Our stay in St Malo was the perfect ending to a wonderful holiday in France.

Beautiful old building with the bonus of ample car parking within an easy 20 minute walk of the centre of St Malo.
Our room at the top of the building was clean and spacious with a massive bathroom.
A nice relaxed, unhurried place to stay.
