If you think you'll get a nights sleep here, forget it, great location for drinking yourself into a coma because that's the only way you'll get any sleep.
Better off out of the walled city completely if you can, better still go to Dinard.

This hotel was the worst place we stayed during our 2 month holiday which included 6 days in Brittany. Hot noisy dirty peeling paint. Just the pits.We got caught up in the tour de france. The police had closed the roads leading into St Malo and we couldn't get through until 10pm at night. Not enough information from the hotel early enough for us to cancel and re book somewhere else. If you are planning to visit St Malo be aware that it is an old walled city with only 2 routes in and out. It is a maze of narrow cobblestone streets. Parking is all paid and very difficult. Getting luggage to any of the hotels is a nightmare. All this really spoilt our visit to the place. I would advise anyone to stay at nearby Dinard.

The only good thing of Hotel Anne de Bretagne is "location",5 mins walking to the beach and easy access to bar/restaurant. I'd say its perfect. Except this, every other thing is terrible with reasons below:

1. Poor management: We booked a family suite online, however, the hotel changed us 4 people to 2 seperate twin beds room without requiring and asking.

2. Hygiene: one of the rooms' bed sheet has bugs which is extremely unbearable. Extremely disgusting. I have beent traveling many destinations, this hotel is even worse than a hostel!

3. We forgot to bring one of packs left over in the room. And we called back to the hotel to check for it, the answer was they already threw our bag into the gabbage. This is so not professional as well, you at least can call and check. Plus, and the reception lady's attitude was so not patient.

4. The room sound protection is poor too. You can barely talk loudly, your neighbours will knock your door if so.

Anyway, NEVER will repeat my stay in this hotel and here's the comment for warning to the people who thinks to book it.

Within the walls and close to the main areas for wining and dining. Near to a car park and the beach. Two excellent pubs within about 50 metres - The Alchimiste and St Patrick.
Good breakfast room and plenty to eat - continental style.
Rooms are average but functional

Stayed there from June 1st thru June 3rd 2013.Very conveniently located in the old walled city (Intramuros). Rooms are small but clean and functional. Friendly staff. Breakfast was 8 Euros a person and included Croissants, Baguettes, Bread, Juice, Coffee and Yogurt. Computers in lobby with free internet access. Rooms do not have phones but a wake call is a personalized knock on the door.
Excellent value for money and perfect location in the walled city to explore St. Malo. Would stay there again if in St. Malo.

The hotel was chosen for its convenience, being central within the 'intra muros' old part of Saint-Malo and was a solid choice. We were one part of a stag party and the separate annexe was perhaps a good idea in hindsight. Clean, with some character, the price of 67 Euros was not bad, although out of season this call fall to 40 euros per night. Would use again.

We stayed for one night in this hotel in a room across the stree from the main hotel. The room was on the third floor, up very dark and shabby stair cases and there was no evidence of any kind of fire drill or fire exit - a little worrying. The sheets were clean but the bed cover shabby. the shower was cracked and the grouting black. The room was extremely basic and very noisy when the windows were open. It was fine with the windows shut however, We used the garage, which was a godsend, but an adventure in itself to get to. A very nice young member of staff had to move another car out of the way before we could leave. Other staff were helpful but not especially friendly. I would take the time to research and book ahead before my next visit to St Malo and would not book into this hotel again. it's a relic from a bygone era of mediocre, tired hotels and thankfully is not typical.
