Have been to St Malo twice in the last two years - done my research and have chosen to stay at his hotel both times. It is unparalleled for its beach location. From your room you can sit on a small balcony or in a glass enclosed bay window (my favourite and suggest you ask for one of these rooms) and see the ocean rise and fall (huge tide) and watch the many activities on the beach. The hotel has a very good restaurant or you can do what we did and walk up the beach or the incredible paved walkway to the historic St Malo old town where you are literally surrounded by restaurants (20min stroll). The rooms are medium sized with a separate toilet and well equipped bathroom. Beds are extremely comfortable and the windows open to let in fresh air and relaxing sea sounds. There is no traffic noise and you rarely hear a sound from other guests. The Tv offers many different language channels (great for us as we have been, on a long holiday, bereft of a choice of English speaking channels for a while). Parking is very easy in this hotel. Every morning I raised the blinds and was blown away by the view. This is a truly truly great small hotel in a wonderful location run by people who care about the quality of your stay.

Room Tip: You must get a room on the beach side. The view is awesome, morning, afternoon and night.

I first stayed here in 2005,shortly after renovation.I was impressed then, and there has been no deterioration since. The location on the pedestrian-only promenade is as delighful as ever. The sound of the surf remains the only sound at night. My room was very comfortable ,with best quality linen and a firm bed.The bathroom is in perfect condition, and predates silly styling fads,so that it is actually possible to wash in tne basin. There is even a drying line over the bath.
Although the rooms are not large, almost all include a small balcony or bay window with imitation wicker chairs from which to enjoy the ambiance.
One improvement since my first visit has been internet access, although this requires a daily change of ID and password. The other "improvement" is a ridiculous flatscreen TV which is much too large, and by far the ugliest thing in the hotel.
The staff remain alert and efficient, apparently all native to the region.Dinner service is exceptionally quick and expert.
I was sorry to see that the hotel has a Best Western affiliation. The logo does not go with the elegance of the place, and I wondered if a noisy tour group one night had booked because of the organisation.

Room Tip: The prices reflect the room facilities, from cityview/no balcony,to sea view/balcony.

I stayed at the alexandria hotel with my family for one week. That was awesome. We had a small apartment but paied for a simple family room. We had the kitchen, a big bathroom and a big bedroom. We had the access to the beach and the wifi.
Such a great experience.

.....if we'd booked an extra couple of nights here, we could have enjoyed our holiday so much more! If the mark of excellence is exceeding expectations, the Aleaxandra St Malo is excellence in spades! We arrived very late due to traffic delays, but the staff had arranged a light supper and, unasked, gave us upgrade on our room so we could enjoy the slightly better facilities before falling into bed. Waking to a blue sky over a sweeping sea view was the ideal way to start both our mornings there, and the excellent breakfasts boosted our satisfaction rate no end. We sampled several dishes on the menu at lunch and dinner on both days, too, finding a great deal worthy of praise each time. Service was efficient and friendly, the whole place was very clean and comfortable, the location is pretty much ideal, and the price, though not the lowest by any means, was actually very reasonable for such a gem. Can't recommend it enough!

Room Tip: The view really does give you a lift each morning, so it's worth booking such a room.

We arrived late (@9:00 PM) and left early (5:00 AM) because we were just spending the night to catch the early Guernsey ferry - but what an unexpected delight! Staff was super, internet worked well, and room was exceptionally clean and attractive. While we did not have or need a room with a view, our room was great and a good night’s rest. Perfect stop-over for Guernsey ferry. Saint Malo looked beautiful and I wish we had time to explore. If we ever go back to do that - explore - I would definitely stay here and get a room with a view.

We had a wonderful 4 day stay in October. We had an ocean view room on the 4th floor that was magnificent. We slept with the window open and at high tide the sound of the sea was so soothing. Staff were friendly and service was good. Great location just 10 minute walk from the walled city. Breakfast was excellent. We did not eat at the restaurant. Parking at €12 per day.

Room Tip: Suggest paying extra for ocean view.
