Very small room and very loud exhaust fan in the toilet, which cannot be turned off by the hotel guest or by the hotel staff. By the way, the hotel staff cannot do anything about any "complicated" problem like that...

I stayed here for one night as part of a short break. Its well located and one of few hotels in the walled city offering breakfast within the room rate. Its good providing you are using the hotel just to sleep and I would stay here again depending on a lowish price as I think there are better hotels close by for the same price I paid. This was the first Ibis style I stayed in and i thought it wasn't as good as the usual ibis as it lacked tea/coffee making facilities and was generall fairly basic but suited my needs.

Good Points

- Location is excellent - in the walled city so 2 minutes to everything. 5 minutes easy walk (and easy to find) from the Ferry Port.
- Room was clean and comfortable.
- Breakfast was very good. Warm croissants, fruit, bread, jams, youghurts, cheese, ham and lots of tea/coffee and juice options. Very good for a basic type breakfast.
- Wifi is free which is rare in hotels these days! It was also a good strong signal which again is also rare!

Bad Points

- Check in wasn't great. We arrived very ealry in the morning so lef tour bags with reception who told us to come back at 12pm which we did to then be told to come back at 1pm which we did and again were asked to come back at 2pm. Not great and left a bad first impression.
- Room is located close to bars and a nightclub. As we were on the lower floor then we could hear it quite loudly which may affect sleeping
- No tea/coffee facility which is something you would expect for the price they are charging!
- You have to pay a city tax which whilst not being much, wasn't explained either in booking or on check in so is something they really should explain so its not a suprise.

Also to note is that the rooms and the receptions are entered via different doors so you have to go outside and walk along the street to get to the other. Not a poblem unless you maybe have an issue during the night or like having breakfast in your pyjamas!

Room Tip: Higher the better - for views and to aviod the noise!

I stayed at the Ibis Styles Saint-Malo last week when I was traveling in Brittany. The hotel is tucked into a quaint old building within the walled city, and I had a lovely stylish room, high up under the rafters overlooking the Quai St. Louis and the inner harbor. The city offers many delights: from cuisine to architecture to history and access to spectacular hiking along the coast. What struck me the most was how friendly, helpful and good-natured the staff were. Clearly more easily bilingual than I, they were very patient in letting me work out all our transactions in French - and smiled through it all!

This was our 2nd visit to St Malo, this hotel is in a perfect location within the old town walls & you are never more than 10 minutes away from the hotel. The rooms are small but adequate, very clean and modern bathrooms. Breakfast was adequate with fresh coffee, orange juice, fresh croissants, pain au chocolat, French bread, cheese, ham, cereals & yogurts, what more could you need. We didn't use the bar so can't comment. A taxi from Dinard airport cost €35 (Sunday) and €25 for the return but it was a taxi big enough for 6. There are plenty of places to eat and drink, you will be spoilt for choice.

Within walking distance of the ferry terminal and right next door to all the restaurants. The rooms were nicely furnished with a HD flat screen TV (only CNN in English). Breakfast was adequate - you can't really complain about fresh croissants and good coffee whilst in France!

Didn't need aircon so not sure if they had it - it would be noisy with the windows open in warm weather as its right in the middle of bar/restaurant area.

Room Tip: No lift so choose lower floor if stairs bother you.

Hotel is in a good location but parking close is very difficult. Our room was right at the top in the roof and a very awkward shape. You couldn't walk round the bed without bending down.
The lift to the 5th floor was the smallest I've ever been in, just about room for 2 people assuming normal size.
No tea/coffee making in the room but available free in the reception area which was in a separate building.

Wonderful position just within the main gate of the old walled city and yet we had a lovely spacious and quiet room. Friendly welcome from the staff and nice touches such as tea and coffee in reception nod chocolates for the children... and others...
