Location is great, just a stone's throw from the train station, and a 15-20 minute walk from the old town. We were taking the ferry to Portsmouth the following morning, and the ferryport is only 5 minutes away by car.

We met only 3 of the staff, 2 at reception and the other at breakfast - they were all great, helpful and easy to talk with.

Our room was quite small but comfortable, with all the usual facilities, and the bathroom was spotless. The bed was a little bit too firm for my liking, but there was no noise from outside, so we got a good night's sleep.

There is plenty of on-street parking around the hotel, but we booked a spot in the hotel's underground garage - they've only got 15-20 spots, so you probably need to book early if you're interested. It costs €10 per night.

Breakfast was very good, although a little bit expensive (€15 per head) There was a good selection of sweet and savoury breads, cold meats and cheeses, together with a hot cabinet for us rosbifs with bacon, sausages and scrambled eggs. There was also a selection of yoghurts and fruits, fresh and canned. Coffee was from a self-service machine and was excellent.

If you're obsessed with Facebook, Netflix etc, then maybe it's not for you, but if you want a well-priced hotel not far from the ferryport or gare SNCF, with clean rooms, friendly and helpful staff, and a good breakfast to send you on your way, then maybe this is the place.

The hotel is nice and fresh. But the international tv channels didn’t work. Apparently it’s been like that for a couple of days. How could it take days to solve such a simple thing?
When I asked about that the only reply I got was that there were a paper in the lift (written in poor English), but I don’t understand how that would help me?
Tried to watch something on Netflix instead, but WiFi was too slow, decided to upload some photos to Facebook instead, but they timed out due to poor connection... there are no excuses for having such a bad WiFi connection. These days.

Very friendly staff, clean, but small rooms. No mini bar, no special bathroom amenities. You could hear the doors of the other rooms closing. The Wifi is very slow! Breakfast is good, with great choices.
