We've visited this restaurant many times but not since it was literally blown away in 2008. When we were staying at a nearby hotel a few years ago, we asked for some restaurant recommendations and they didn't seem to rate this one. However, we were after a fruit de mer and thought we would give it another go for old times sake.
We made a reservation for a window table but to be honest as it was dark we totally missed out on the great view. However, the window tables do give a bit more room.
The fruit de mer came with a lobster which is unusual because you normally have to add that on as an extra in a lot of restaurants. It was a bit chewy though. The crab also had a lot of water ini t which made us wonder if it had been frozen. Surely not though! This is France and the seafood abundant. My husband had the cheese which was a choice from the board. He really raved about the epoisses which was one of the best cheese he had had in a restaurant. Wine was VERY expensive. Upper £20s. All in all, we will visit again as it is a tradition with us but it's not the best meal ever. As you would expect, many restaurants in St Malo are to serve the tourists. If you want a really good French meal try Bistro St Jean.
