Probably fine if the spa is what you want...

There is not a great choice of hotels in Carnac or the surrounding area in January so I ended up at Carnac Thalasso by default rather than choice.

It was not expensive as an hotel but then the rooms were small, very plain and the bathrooms pretty horrid. As I have found before in this type of hotel, the whole place smells of chlorine which I don't like so much... The food was OK. The service was friendly and the groups wandering around in their dressing gowns seemed happy enough. I think that I was just the wrong bloke in the wrong place!

had a grate time staff helpful; found that the restraunt food was not that good and the breakfast was expensive for what you had; we ate at a bakery in the local town for half the price; the health suite was good but being in a wheel chair it was very difficult to access it could do with being sorted; the rooms were clean and comfortable but wheel chair access was difficult;They did do a lovely meet and greet evening with free drinks; theres plenty of free parking; i would go again but would need a room that is more accessable

Baths justify the hotel,despite late check-in time

Carnac Thalasso has two, hotel, 3 stars and 4 stars hotel.I stayed in 3 stars hotel and i think is good enough.
Location.Beside beach, 15 munutes walking to Carnac downtown and 30 minutes walking to megalithes.So it´s a good location.
View froom room was nice, the salt lake with a lot of birds.
The best:Baths
Hotel has a Spa where guest can use, with hot salt sea water.The baths provide a fantastic relaxation, and is possible try this water in the swimming pool or the best, jacuzzi with hot salt sea water.
Rooms were small, but OK,enough confortable.
Hotel has excellents restaurants.
Staff is helpful,but they need improve information about how to go to train station in Auray, as there is no train station in Carnac.
The worst: terrible check-in time at 16:00.I can´t understand why so late check-in time.Making check-in at 4 p.m. guests lose arrival day,
And room is cleaned-up early at morning, also check-out time is at noon.

Room Tip: Avoid some rooms in first floor(rez de chaussée),because some of them, not all, are located in the hallway which is the passage between reception area and restaurant and can be noisy.

Health-focussed

Average 4-star hotel, but with a large number of wellness facilities (spa, massages, different types of pools, gym, etc. etc.)
Rooms are average for this price range, and have working airconditioning which is nice.
The breakfast is quite good, with nespresso coffee, and a nice selection of bread, cereals, egg, meats, cheeses, fuit, juices, yoghurts, etc.
Service times for breakfast, lunch and diner are very strict, as in most places in France. Only a very few venues in Carnac have continuous service.
Outside regular hours, the hotel lounge also serves food, but has a very limited selection.
The hotel is located not directly on the beachfront, but on the street leading up to the beach. The village is within easy walking distance.
The hotel is part of a larger complex that also features 3-star appartments (no airco), and a health-package for people that want to live very healthy during their stay (lots of fruit/vegetable smooties etc.). A significant number of elderly people were staying in the resort, perhaps for the wellness-facilities.

Room Tip: If you want airconditioning, choose the 4-star section. The 3-star section doesn't have it.

Relax and Enjoy

This was so far our best spa weekend that we have been fortunate enough to share.Although not exactly good value for money as I personally feel you always get over charge in this hotels classed as 3* /4* hotels. The room for me was a room with a view and nothing special ( i.e. no balcony to enjoy the view.). The restaurant food was again over priced as was the wine,so being a bit of a cheap scape we always take our own bottle o sparkling wine with us to enjoy as an aperitif before the meal.You also get to choose your own nibbles so I don't get given a small handfull of nuts,which I don't like.
The breakfast was not to bad very much again the normal ,we decided to take it in the room at an extra cost but then you don't sit around other people eating in their bath robes waiting to go in the spa centre.
Now the actual Spa Centre was included in the price we paid for the room so due to the adverse weather we took advantage of thus to the full. With the bath robes ( provided) we entered to find a roomy sauna ( separate men and women's ) the same in the steam room where there is also a small walk through cold water bath. The swimming area is quite small if the centre is busy( Olympic swimmers beware ) . The swimming area is next to a series of different water jets etc which are again really nice especially as there is a section to go outside and enjoy the jets etc.
Now again all this is great if it is not to busy but be warned children are allowed in the swimming areas as well ( nit sauna or steam rooms ).
Neither my wife or myself tried the treatments as it us not our thing so I can't make an observation on this part of the hotel except to say again it looks pricey.
Would we go back yes, would we eat in the restaurant again no .
Overall I say go and enjoy the area and enjoy what you enjoy from a spa hotel.

Room Tip: Room 209 view but no balcony.
