Stayed a night en route north. Good location in this very nice city - just next to the park along the river with good walks. Very quiet.
Large hotel with spa across the road, which we didn't use, but small pool on top floor was nice to have.
Had room with terrace on second floor. Large and very well fitted out, with spacious bathroom and spotless.
Terrace bar was a good spot and the dinner was good, also outside (inside a bit soulless). Reception staff first class and very helpful about parking/collecting car from own garage. Recommended.

The hotel is ideal if you are following a spa treatment as you can go in your dressing gown over the walkway.
The spa is 5 star. The treatments are good and the therapists are pleasant, although the quality of the massages vary.
The hotel is 4.5 star. While the bedrooms are well laid out, the beds comfortable and the bathrooms spacious, the N3 restaurant is disappointing. The menu gourmand and bien-être are uninspiring and the food bland and not hot.
Some of the waiting staff in the N3 and Blue Note have perfected the French art of making you feel that they are doing you a big favour by deigning to serve you - or heaven forbid crack a smile!
My friend and I speak fluent French so we know of what we speak.

Since my last review two years ago things have improved. An effort has been made to repair the building and the reception has jumped from mild disdain to a real welcome. Something to do with the number of Russians employed to deal with the number of Russian guests?

The whole institution continues to be a fine example of well-oiled luxury. Only real downside is the price of breakfast. And I did try to speak to the management about their replies to Trip Advisor comments in English which have remained unchanged for at least two years. They never responded.

Room tip: Park view is worth the difference in price.

As you can see from my previous review, I love almost everything about this hotel. And while previous concerns have now been addressed in that there is very good bar food available in the lobby which makes up for the loss of the casual dining restaurant, and WiFi is now much more reliable, a new problem has appeared. This time there was no ability to control the temperature in our room. We were told the heat was “on,” so we could have it on or turn it off. The thermostat seemed to have been adapted with a crude on/off toggle switch. That meant playing a game of trying to achieve comfort level, and we wound up turning the heat off and opening the window round the clock trying to get there. This is just ridiculous for a hotel of this caliber which is otherwise superior. I keep hoping this is a temporary thing and part of the ongoing overall reburbishment of the establishment. Everything else is faultless, but this is not a minor inconvenience which has to be addressed.

Highly recommend however be wary of poor wifi and underwhelming shower. Close proximity to shops and town centre. Lovely garden patio. Enjoyed the spa retreat area and massage however my husband found his massage to be too soft.
