Having been travelling in Périgord for four days, we really felt like eating something other than foie gras and duck! The pizzeria les Coupoles was a great find. It is located just off place Daumesnil where the Cathédrale Saint-Front is situated. It was a cool summer evening, and the terrace offered a good view of the cathedral. The restaurant offered a range of dishes including pizzas, salads, pastas and meat dishes (and yes, you can eat duck and foie gras at this restaurant too if you really want to!). The pizzas were made in the thin-crusted style. We had a charcutière pizza and a sicilienne one - the light and fresh pizzas were a perfect antidote to the hearty périgourdin food from the past few days. The wine list was also entirely Italian, and there was a good variety of crêpe and ice cream dishes for desserts. Pizzas were reasonably priced (most were less than 10€). All in all, a great choice if you're looking for a casual restaurant with a relaxed atmostphere, a view, and something different from your average touristy périgourdin fare.
