Reviewed June 13, 2011

a very nice and well maintained hotel
rooms are small and tidy and quiet despite the highway nearby
bathrooms could desserve some improvement and internet connection could be boosted up (available only in lobby and quite unstable)
very good (reasonably priced) restaurant
overall very good value for money in this perigord region

The staff were surly, ignorant and unsmiling on entering into the restaurant, we asked 3 times for a table and were ignored until the owner appeared. The food was only acceptable and nothing special. The menu was intended for you to pay a lot as the choice was either 19 euros or 48 euros, nothing reasonable. we wondered if the low price offering was to get people in or to meet some french regulation.

The house white wine was expensive at 23 euros when we had the same at different restaurants in sarlat at 12 and 13 euros repectively. We had to ask for bread and water and was ignored when we asked for more later on.
I would not recommend any one to go here.

Beautiful setting in an old mill with streams running through the gardens and under the building, the water wheel still turning. Clean simple rooms, had to sit in the bath to shower and wasn't a lot of hot water. Nice public areas with free wifi. The restaurant was the highlight. We had a table on the terrace overlooking the garden with the sound of the burbling streams and the blackbirds. Excellent food in a stunning location. Amazing what you get in a two star hotel.

We were here for only one night at the beginning of a bike trip, but all of us loved the hotel: warm welcome at reception, lovely garden with outdoor furniture by the river which runs through the grounds, obliging outdoor service (a pot of tea in the afternoon, and kirs before dinner) and an attractive restaurant with good food. Yes, rooms are modest - but they are fine. And yes, breakfast is limited - but it's not much different to many small French hotels. It's an easy walk down to the village which has a number of cafes/restaurants and, of course, the museum - which (at the risk of sounding like philistines) we found a bit underwhelming. So many of the display cases contained huge numbers of fragments that didn't mean much to us - for a modern, interpretative museum, it's surprisingly oldfashioned in relying so heavily on display cases full of things, rather than telling stories and drawing in visitors in a more interactive way.

This hotel is indeed delightful, as other reviewers have posted. Just a bit more attention to detail is needed. For example, breakfast - at seven euros - is overpriced. The coffee was awful, the fruit juice not fresh, and the croissants cold (it was 'impossible' to grant our request that they should be warmed!) Better to walk to one of the cafés in the village. The lighting in the bedroom was so poor that it was difficult to read in bed. The car parking relies on individual responsibility: painting a few white lines would deter those selfish drivers who take up two or thee cars'-worth of the limited space available. Our table at dinner, and the plates and glasses on it, were littered with the falling corpses of insects perishing the light above. Overall, staying at the Moulin was an enjoyable experience and the management helpful and charming. We'd recommend it, but note the points above

The first thing to say about the hotel is that they let us leave our car in their carpark - free of charge - for 5 days while we went walking in the Dordogne. On return we stayed for two nights, and were delighted with the standard of accommodation and with the friendly service. It is an ideal base for visiting the many fascinating prehistoric sites in and around Les Eyzies. Most of all we enjoyed the food in the restaurant - Madame runs the hotel and is ever-present, Monsieur does the cooking and is never seen! We had dinner there twice, and had three exquisite courses, accompanied by delightful wine, on each occasion.

I came across this hotel thanks to the Tourist Information centre in Les Eyzies-de-Tayac. My mate and I turned up at the hotel without reservations wanting a couple of rooms for 2 nights as we intended to spend a whole day canoeing down the Vézère river. The lady at reception was extremely helpful and even though the hotel was almost full she managed to rearrange existing booking to fit us in for 2 nights without having to move rooms during our stay.

This is a lovely hotel set in gorgeous grounds. All areas of the hotel were very well presented and very clean and I found the all of the staff extremely helpful. My bedroom was very spacious with a good sized bed and a decent sized bathroom. The room had air conditioning although I didn't need it. There was no television in my room but I don't go on holiday to watch television so that was fine with me.

At approximately 60 euros a night per room I think this hotel offered very good value for money and if I ever return to Les Eyzies this is definitely the hotel that I will stay in.
