“Our second visit to the Kristo”
Reviewed June 26, 2013

This time it was summer so we were able to sit in the pleasant small courtyard, and we took a friend. We ordered two large salad meals and the chaxobili for Robin. This is the chicken dish I had on our previous visit. Our friend had a large meze salad at 12 euros and I had the special Kristo salad at 12.50. This had more Armenian specialities and I particularly appreciated the little stuffed aubergine rolls. We had rather a wait though we only saw one other couple, and once again we regretted that there was only French bread instead of the flat bread we would have preferred. However, the meal, over all, was very enjoyable. We shared a bottle of Armenian wine, two frommage blanc and three café gourmand (with a delicious honey & nut pastry roll) for 68 euros in all. My friend preferred this meal to the much more expensive dinner we had had in Périgueux the previous evening. We will definitely go again.

“And now for something a bit different”
Reviewed February 9, 2013

Le Kristo is a newish little restaurant on the Riberac side of Bergerac, just behind the Avia service station, with 8 tables. It's open for light and full meals starting at 8.50 euros for the "Plat du Jour". We had a starter of 4 mezes between us at 6 euros (the small size). A large one was 12 euros. We got ordinary French bread with it - it would have been nice to have had flat bread. Then we each had the Armenian mains at 12 euros. R had Chanax which was described as beef, aubergine, peppers, tomato, chick peas & onion. This turned out to be a thick soup. We were sure the meat was actually mutton, but it was tasty. My Chaxobili turned out to be three BBQ'd chicken legs on taboulé done with tomate & onion - also delicious. The other dishes were largely generic of the Eastern Med - Moussaka, kebabs, etc. I had a fruit salad, R had two cigars of a pastry like filo stuffed with walnut & honey. The deserts cost 2.50 euros. Then we had coffee - I had a "café gourmand" which included one of these pastries. With a bottle of Armenian red, the bill came to about 58 euros. The young owners are both very friendly and helpful. We would go again. Next time we'll try the straightforward menu du jour: 3 courses for 12.50 euros, and take a chance.

“Excellent Armenian restaurant”
Reviewed October 16, 2012

This small new restaurant only seats 14 inside with more seating on the patio in the summer. It is run by a young couple who are recent immigrants from Armenia. The service is personal and the food is superbly prepared and presented. The lunchtime special - with your choice of appetizer and main course - is Euro 12.50. A very pleasant dining experience. Reservations recommended.
The owners speak English.
