“Family stay - Hotel de France”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 6, 2013

Hotel de France is a small hotel right in the centre of town. The rooms were clean and adequately furnished. The heated pool, although small, was a hit with my children after a day exploring the town.

The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. While the hotel's location in the centre of town means that daytime parking can be a problem, we had little problem finding parking in the evening in the adjacent square.

Convenient, great friendly 3 star hotel.

Room Tip: While the rooms facing the square have a balcony, rear facing rooms will be quieter. We experienced...

This is a small hotel in the centre of bustling Bergerac. Parking is difficult during the day but by 7pm all is quiet. The rooms are rather small but the beds are comfortable and the shower etc clean and functioning well. The welcome however is large, the staff helpful and the breakfast simple and fresh.
A good place to stay when exploring.

Spent 4 wonderful days at this hotel. I have given it top marks, maybe not for amenities but for friendliness and relaxation value! It is a hidden gem!

We arrived at silly o clock on a Ryan air flight thinking the hotel would tell us to go away and come back later but no, the wonderful receptionist (who I didn't get name - sorry but he will know who is is) told us he would get our room ready as quickly as possible. Check in was 3 p.m. but by 11 a.m. we were in our room which overlooked a lovely little courtyard and pool.

We then spent the next 4 days feeling as if we had arrived at a friends house! We were shown the pool, which we made good use of, and were asked if it was the right temperature. Later understood that the thermal equipment had only just been installed. It was PERFECT. We were so happy with the temperature of the pool and have been to Egypt in the soaring degrees and not been able to get in the pool because it was too cold! 10/10 Hotel de France for the pool temperature.

The owners of this hotel are quite new and are making lots of changes in way of air con, which we didn't actually need in April but just in case anyone is wondering.

We didn't intend having breakfast everyday but found it was good value and so took it! Continental but as much as you want and at hours to suit.

The hotel is set bang in the centre of Bergerac, couldn't be more convenient and Bergerac itself is a beautiful town. Ryanair trips are cheap and frequent. I would recommend anyone to hop on one and try it out for themselves!

My thanks to everyone at the hotel - we slept brilliantly! All stresses relived to come back to work.

Merci Jean Pierre et personnel pour un temps merveilleux. Nous vivement recommander votre hotel et attendons avec impatience de vous revoir bientot!

Room Tip: Rooms at the back overlook the pool and no noise. But don't think the front had much noise as...

A good, old fashioned, hotel, with much to commend it. The visitors book indicates that some Brit couples and families have returned a number of times. The room was not big, but very pleasant and clean. Breakfast was very good. Very well located for exploring Bergerac. Private parking, covered, is limited but possible if booked in advance. It's essentially in a long, narrow garage within the building, so it could be an issue if other cars are coming and going, and there is a deep drop between the pavement and the road on which we grounded, and a lower slung sports car might have more difficulty. Staff were excellent, helpful and friendly. Would certainly stay again. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance. Hotel has a pool, which we did not use, but might be nice in better weather!

Stayed at this hotel (8-10th October 2012) after having to leave other accommodation & found it excellent. Its situated in the heart of Bergerac a few minutes stroll to the old town near restaurants and bars.
The owners/managers were some of the best we have ever come across, they explained everything about the hotel facilities, restaurants, gave us a very clean room overlooking the front of the hotel and assisted in numerous ways to help us re book flights & print boarding passes without question.
There service was above and beyond helpful. Would definitely recommend for a stay in Bergerac.
Thanks again, as new management your doing an excellent job.

My husband and I stayed here for one night and really enjoyed the experience. The staff were lovely to us. Our room had a lovely balcony overlooking the place gambetta which was bustling on market day....watch out for parking here as you may get towed if you don't move your car ahead of the market.

We couldn't really fault this place and was just what we were looking for.

We didn't make use of the pool or the restaurant but good to know the were there.

A good spot for exploring the town

We stayed here for the last night of our holiday. Booked at last minute with little research. What a find, clean comfortable with really lovely staff, who allow you to try out your French but all speak pretty good English
The little haven at the back of a small courtyard with pool is an oasis in the city
Wee placed for eateries and sight seeing
Well recommended.

Room Tip: Baloneys at the front over street, but still quiet
