“Good location in heart of town”
Reviewed September 15, 2012

Good: central location; express buffet breakfast; great view over town and sea ( paid extra for ocean view room).
Not so good: small room; slightly musty smell; you can hear the nighttime sounds of a resort town. This is not a car friendly hotel: it is difficult to find by car as it is located in a mainly-pedestrianised central square and there is very limited space outside to drop luggage. It is right next door to one entrance into the indoor Clemencau car park (Euro 1.50 per hour; Euro 15 per 24 hour) but the hotel has no commercial relationship with the car park company Vinci).

Room Tip: It is worth paying extra for an ocean view

Nice hotel in a great location. Just a five minute walk from the beach and close to lots of shops, restaurants and bars. The staff were very nice and friendly, and the room clean and comfortable. Everything was fine and it's a nice hotel, but that's it. It was just fine. We payed £105 per night for a week in June/July, so I was expecting something a little better than fine. It was just little things that were disappointing, like cheap toilet paper, plastic water cups and paper cups for tea/coffee. So no reason to stay away, it's just nothing special.

Biarritz is a famous french seaside resort, so this modern "clean cut" hotel is a little out of target for vacation travelers, since it is suited for a short stay for people looking for convenience and central location. Our 7th floor room was not so big and bathroom facilities were basic. What prooved to be very disappointing was the double bed with a matress that had a jelly fish consistency, driving both its unhappy occuppants to the center, in a very unconfortable posture!. Perhaps Biarritz is a very expensive place in August, but 326 euro (breakfast not included) should buy more than two nights of torture... To be fair, views of the ocean were remarkable, but visitors should note that you need high floor (6th and up) reservations. Another good thing was very central location, very close to the Grand Plage, all the shops and restaurants being close by, including the car park next door.

Room Tip: For nice ocean views get a floor higher than 7

We stayed here for 3 nights and for 2 rooms - 1 x double and 1 x twin. It was booked with an online booking site, and cost a total of 972 euros (including tax and breakfast) or 162 euros per room per night.

The hotel is very contemporary - we liked the decor. The bedrooms are very small (more like our Premier Inns in London). Both rooms only had a single wardrobe, paper cups for tea/coffee and the twin beds were the smallest we have ever come across - our children really struggled! Adults certainly couldn't use them. Overall, it feels just a little bit too basic for the money but then Biarritz is a very expensive place.

Breakfast is average. Strangely no toaster. Hot: sausages and scrambled eggs. Fresh eggs provided for you to boil your own (but they kept running out of the eggs). Yoghurts, waffles, bread, jam, some cereals and some dried fruit. But perfectly adequate to get your day started.

On the plus side:
The location is 10 mins walk to the beach front and you are right in the centre of the town so everything is on your doorstep.
The car park is right next door to the hotel (15 euros per 24 hours).
The hotel will provide beach towels for 3 euros per day - if you don't exchange them at the end of the day and keep them for the next day then they won't charge you any extra.
The Reception staff are very helpful.
The hotel is very clean and there was no road noise. However our rooms were at the back of the hotel so that may account for that.

Make sure that your room is 3rd floor or above - our bedrooms on the 2nd floor was on the same level as and looked directly on to a car park which is a bit disconcerting when you are trying to get dressed!

We needed to book a 4th night but they wanted to charge 214 euros per room - this was too big a hike from what we had paid previously so we decided to move on to another resort.

Overall, this hotel is geared up for business users who need a room for one night and is fine for that. It served its purposes for our family but we wouldn't book it again due to the amount it charges for the room size and generally the lack of frills for the cost.

Room Tip: Make sure you book 3rd floor or above. Definitely book online with a booking site before you go.

An excellent hotel with very helpful staff and central location. We did pay the extra for the sea view which was great and the breakfast included a hot selection. Although relatively expensive, I would recommend a stay here.

Room Tip: Get the sea view

This hotel was well located and central, and the rooms were modern and clean. It was quiet and comfortable enough - pretty standard for this class of hotel. Small good point - fabulous shower. Small negative point - since when do hotels give you one paper cup each in the room to make your instant tea/coffee in? The main letdown was the staff - I'm surprised at the other reviews, as I had a very different experience. The staff were dismissive and unhelpful at best, with the exception of when someone who appeared to be a general manager of some sort popped in for a visit, at which point they made more of an effort for the 15 minutes he was standing there. It's a functional place to stay, but I would probably try somewhere else if I visited Biarritz again.

Hotel is central. Not sure why the toilet and shower room are separate. It served a purpose but nothing great.
