Very good museum with or without children. Loads to see and learn. Lots of marine animals. Very useful side show down the road if you buy a combined ticket, though no animals. Had loads of fun learning about the world's oceans and weather patterns. History of acrtic exploring and much more.

Good museum with nice living collections : fishes, sharks, seals, etc. For kids, even place where they can touch some fishes.

First time I went to visit it was 25 years ago; last time 10 years ago. Now, after a 2011 renovation, I expected that it would be in line with our electronic information age, particularly for young people (except for the tanks with fishes and seals, the other rooms must be boring for them). They have built new tanks for sharks and exotic fishes, but not comparable to those that you can see in e.g. La Rochelle. At 5 pm the day when we visited it, the seals did not want to eat, they were very lazy, and the person who fed them acknowledged that it happened at times particularly when the weather is warm.
Excellent loacation near the "Rocher de la Vierge" - difficult to park a car in the neigborhood (Vinci park at 200m anyway) - you can bathe at Port Vieux beach vey close to the aquarium, or iat Biarritz "grande plage"

This is our third visit to Biarritz, and having visited the related Cite de l'Ocean a few years ago, we decided to visit this museum to complete the set, and felt certain that it would be as good as the Cite de l'Ocean. However, at the end of our visit, we came out feeling disappointed and that it was overpriced and poor value for money.

In August, the museum is open until midnight, but in order to get the best value out of your admission charge, you should coordinate your visit with feeding and "touch pool" timings.

Also, they don't appear to expect visitors from anywhere else other than France, as none of the signage or information was in any language other than French. It wouldn't cost much time, effort or expense to get this information translated into a few more languages, especially considering that Biarritz is only about 20 mins away from Spain, and that there are many tourists and holidaymakers here from other countries during the summer. We felt at a distinct disadvantage and that it lessened our potential enjoyment of the visit.

The price of the "family ticket" was actually €2 more than the price of four individual tickets for our family! A definite disincentive for families of less than at least five members.

All in all, this museum is definitely over-hyped and over-priced...shame.

Small but plenty to see, the highlight is the seal show / feeding. Tip: arrange your visit so you can see the seals being fed.
