“Great is so many ways but rooms far too small!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 1, 2014

Great location - 10 minutes walk from town and beach.
Modern, chic hotel with lovely reception and great rooms - warm, comfortable, kettle, modern, clean, tidy, practical and functional but far, far too small. The shower is ok but right next to the toilet - no room to turn round or move. The bed completely dominates the room and is too big for the space left around it.
No point in having a more expensive room room - you just get a coffee maker!
Staff good and good pool if warm.

Good tips:
Don't have breakfast - just go down to the local restaurants, we went to The Petit Hotel which is very near the Casino- you can't miss it. We just went in the day before and asked if we could have breakfast and they said ok - just check first as they might be full up. It's only 7 euros and you get quite a lot! Also go to
Barriritz Oceane Residence - on your way to the shops - they do a nice buffet for 9 euros.

You can get to the hotel really easily from the airport by bus- no. 14 towards Scolaire - ask for the stop Guy Petit - it's about 5 stops and only 1 euro.

For general travelling, most buses go from the airport - to St. Jean, San Sebasation and other places. There is also a bus to the railway station from town A2.

You must visit Bayonne - bus from outside the hotel - 14.
It's the most beautiful town - unspoilt and very French. Great lunch places, free bus tour, great places to walk and take photos.

The beach at St. Jean is better than Birraritz - longer and more to see and do.

Room Tip: Floor 3 is apparently quieter

I was a little disappointed because I thought the hotel was going to have more of a Basque feel to it. The carpet in my room was a bit worn, but overall the room was clean. The bed was comfortable with nice bed spread. There was coffee and tea with a nice brewing machine in the room. The water bottles in the mini fridge were free which was a nice convenience.

Two blocks from one of the beaches.

I would stay here again on business.

It's a fifteen minute walk to the beach and promenade but for the price we paid location is not a complaint - we knew where we were going. Rooms are fine but a bit formulaic. Parking is easy which is a bonus. Staff were great. No complaints but no particular stand out.

Great location. A quiet neighbourhood yet a short walk to the central city.
Rooms were fabulous.. Great colours and design, comfortable beds(stayed an extra night because of the bed), and nice details.. (Nespresso maker is always a nice touch in my opinion).
Best part of all was the staff!!! Exceptionally helpful, go out of your way to make you feel welcome and they are very accommodating.
Had dinner in the restaurant. Food is great and well presented, Very reasonalble(especially for Biarritz!). Over all a great experience and a great value. Thanks especially to the staff!

Room Tip: The 3rd (top) floor is the one to stay on.

Very Quiet, perhaps for my group, but this Hotel is well up to and at times beyond what you might expect for great Western. the last word in luxury, perhaps because of great competition at this end of the market in Biarritz. Staff have english but prefer you use their native language.
The Hotel is very centrally located and no more than 10 minutes from any attractions.Restaurant Menus are very varied and fullsome, and this hotel caters from all age groups, with the exception of children. Only slight minus was the smallish pool, as we are the fitness brigade in our mid thirties.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the sea are more expensive, but well worth the small extra. They have sunny aspects

Updated modern rooms, very friendly and helpful staff, very good location and VERY quiet rooms. We stayed in many hotels through Europe in September and this one sits at the very top of the list.

The hotel has employed very good staff, in particular on reception. We have great memories of this seaside town and made all that much better by having stayed at this hotel.

Room Tip: we stayed in a few rooms. All were as good and as quiet as each other.

The Karitza was a reasonable hotel not too far from bars and restaurants, we found a restaurant quite easily (Bistrot Biarrot) without too much trouble.
The room was clean with a comfortable bed which is very important when travelling, not a particularly large room but adequate for a 1 night stayover. Bathroom also clean, towels good.
Didn't have breakfast but decided to go to an American diner BIG MISTAKE what a rip off that was, perhaps we should have stayed at the hotel.
