My wife and I visted Txango twice during our visit to Biarritz. On the first night we have the fixed price menu which gives starter, main and desert for 29e. It was excellent food and great value. The first night we had - pigs trotters pancake - prawns in a sate sauce - for starters. Then we opted for two fish main courses - swordfish with caramelised onion tarte tatin and - hake in a Moroccan broth with cous cous - both were delicious. We finished off with nems de chocolat (crispy pancake rolls filled with hot chocolate sauce) and rum baba with Chantilly cream – again wonderful treats.
The second night we went we had the tapas as a shared starter which was very tasty. We also had the two remaining fish dishes as main courses – Tuna steak topped with pan fried foie gras (melt in the mouth food) on a bed of sweet potato. The other dish of seabass was served whole but was filleted from the back and served with a super beurre blanc sauce and olive oil mash potatoes.
The food is served with French bread and chilled water (included in the price). A very delightful experience which we will revisit if we get the chance.
