We were lucky enough to be in Bordeaux the week-end of the dedication of the new bridge. We listened to the live music and then watched the fireworks, which ended at about 10:00, at which time we set out in pursuit of dinner with no reservation. Big mistake! Everyone in Bordeaux had the same thought as the fireworks ended. We stopped at 5 or 6 restaurants, none of which could take us. That is when we came upon Chez Jean, who had several open tables on the first floor. We went in with some trepidation, wondering why it wasn't very full. We needn't have worried. The place filled up shortly after that and yet the service was attentive ( the waiters were literally running) and the food was very good. My husband had a duck dish that he thought was very good and I had a breadcrumbed rack of lamb that I enjoyed. My husband also had a lemon meringue parfait that he raved about for dessert. It was an enjoyable meal and I would recommend this restaurant.
