“Good place for lunch/ Resto sympa pour dejeuner”
Reviewed August 9, 2014 via mobile

Like the menu of cold platters/salads, seasonal and local menu using fresh produce. Good choices for veggies and meat eaters alike. Friendly and fast (but not rushed) service. A few tables outside.
Next table had a hot chocolate liegeois with a mountain of chantilly, if you're into this kind of things!
Note: if you like air-con don't go there, personally I was fine with ceiling fans but not for those who like to be in an ice-box in summer.

“Great place for brunch”
Reviewed July 15, 2014

We were here around lunch time but wanted a late breakfast. This was no problem and the staff happily gave us the breakfast menu. We had the Breakfast Karl which included bread, pain au chocolate, two drinks, jam, nutella, ham, cheese and yoghurt. Everything was of great quality and you get a lot for your money. Staff was also very nice and happy to chat.

“Great for lunch”
Reviewed June 30, 2014

Had lunch here on arriving in Bordeaux. Very busy, ok if you don;t mind sharing a table if you have to, which we didn't. A very good selection of salads and seasonal cold platters at very reasonable prices. Everyone enjoyed what they had. Service was good. Would go again.

“Fresh,generous and honest”
Reviewed June 27, 2014

We just spent a week in Bordeaux and were dismayed by the daily problem of lunch and dinner. Far too many tourist traps in the old town but with young kids we didn't want to have to travel too far. On day 4, we discovered Karl at lunchtime.

Sat inside to avoid smoking outside, and were quickly served by friendly and very competent staff. Out came the food - veg salad, tomato and basil soup with extras, divine quiche and salad and a bruschetta that was loaded with sweet and flavoursome tomatoes.

This place is honest about its ingredients and I love that the staff move efficiently and work as a team. The restaurant is not split into server sections, rather they all pitch in and get the jobs done with a smile as quickly as they can. It is bustling but they don't mind you lingering.

We went back on our last day and enjoyed a similar experience.Best Bordeaux lunches of the week by far.
