We paid 160€ for two nights at the Campanile. I believe this was too much. This is a VERY basic hotel. American style with car parking right outside the rooms. Rooms are very small with basic decor and older style bathrooms although they were clean. We found it a little noisy at night and te eds were not very comfortable. It is located a long way from Bordeaux town and if you are on holiday it may be better to enjoy beautiful Bordeaux from a more accessible location. It is located in an industrial estate. There are not really any restaurants nearby - McDonalds is close. We also would have appreciated a ar fridge although one was not provided. Overall, relatively expensive for what you got.

As a one night stopover this would be fine. We stayed here for 3 nights which was 2 too many. Our rooms were on the 1st. floor at the back. Eventually we worked out how to get there by a very narrow outside path beside an overgrown (wet) hedge. The only way to the first floor was up a narrow spiral staircase with painted very slippery steps. All of this in the pouring rain. Not happy by the time we reached our rooms! They were clean and adequate, but not cheap. Service pleasant but laid back when it got really busy in the restaurant. Located in a 'nest' of other hotels in a newly developed business/commercial area. Great shopping mall about 2km away. Getting there and back without a car was difficult.

Room Tip: If you have a heavy bag or cannot manage spiral staircases then you must have a ground floor room.

A basic stop over type budget hotel at slightly above budget hotel prices clan but smallish rooms and with a good enough restaurant to suit most travellers..... in common with other reviewers we found the reception staff to be quite good english speakers. The downside for us was that after a long drive from Cherborg in horrendous weather conditions, my disabled wife and I just didn't get the uninterupted sleep that we had expected.

At 3a.m. the electric failed and after finding the night porter (who had a torch but no batteries ) we managed to get power restored only to be woken up a few hours later by a furious banging at the bedroom door as it turned out that whilst power had been restored to our room, the power switches for other nearby rooms were located behind the air conditioning unit in our room which required a member of the staff ( who didn't display a badge, or offer any identification) to enter into the bedroom area to dismantle and remove the wall panels in order to access the power supply trip boxes that controlled several other bedrooms.

As it turned out, the 'maintenance man' was a waiter from the breakfast room and it was he who actually did the emergency electrical 'switch on' which leads to the conclusion that this power failure issue is such a common occurance that a waiter is also trained to do this work alongside his normal breakfast duties.

Sadly, no apologies were given by either reception staff or other site management and no offer of a little compensatory discount to make up for this under-performance by Campanile.

Bordeaux Le Lac area is an easy to find travellers stopover point and has quite a lot of other hotels around the same price range. Next time it will not be the Campanile that I choose

Room Tip: Don't go to Campanile expecting Hilton hotel service

We stopped at this hotel for one night as we travelled to the Dordogne. It jhas recently been refurbished and the rooms were well appointed (with tea and coffe making facilities) and were clean. The buffet breakfast offered was excellent and good value for money. The staff on the reception spoke English and were very helpful. All in all, a good place to stop over and good value for money.

we booked the campanile on our trip from la duquesa to the uk.

we arrived and found the hotel easily, just off the motorway.
the hotel quite modern, and the room we had was clean and tidy. we were put at the back because we had a puppy and there is a grassy area too to walk them.

the room had air con, we needed it too, the bathroom was large and had a good shower,

we had a drink in the bar and prices were on the expensive side.

we used the restaurant and the food was very good. the waitress was very good and helped us with our try a ordering in french.

overall 8/10
