“Good value and clean”
Reviewed September 24, 2012

We stopped at this hotel for one night as we travelled to the Dordogne. It jhas recently been refurbished and the rooms were well appointed (with tea and coffe making facilities) and were clean. The buffet breakfast offered was excellent and good value for money. The staff on the reception spoke English and were very helpful. All in all, a good place to stop over and good value for money.

we booked the campanile on our trip from la duquesa to the uk.

we arrived and found the hotel easily, just off the motorway.
the hotel quite modern, and the room we had was clean and tidy. we were put at the back because we had a puppy and there is a grassy area too to walk them.

the room had air con, we needed it too, the bathroom was large and had a good shower,

we had a drink in the bar and prices were on the expensive side.

we used the restaurant and the food was very good. the waitress was very good and helped us with our try a ordering in french.

overall 8/10

Rooms are nice, clean and confortable.
Every room has Kettle and small selection of tea and coffee. Every room is completely independent.
Hotel has a nice and not very expensive restaurant.
Breakfast (9,50 euros per person) is very good: there is a buffet that gives a large choice.
Reception is available h24.
Negative points: hotel is located outside downtown, car is necessary!

This is the second Campanile Hotel we have stayed at, it wasn't quite as good as the other but you get what you pay for.

The hotel is quite average I probably wouldnt stay there again, there breakfast was disappointing but staff were lovely. The location is slightly outside the city but not far to get to as long as you have a car. The good thing was they have free parking which a lot of places don't seem to have.

Firstly Campanile Nord or Le Lac, is in the north of Bordeaux suburbs next to Le Lac, not in the centre of Bordeaux. This hotel is ideal if you are only driving to the hotel and want to use public transport to get into Bordeaux and sightsee on foot . You catch the bus one street away from hotel about 500 metres. Number 14 is the bus you need at the Les Hotels bus stop. Pay the driver exact money euro 1.40 each. The bus takes you to the Les Aubiers, which is where you pick up the tram to the centre (Quincones). Use the same ticket that you received from the bus driver. So total cost to get into centre is euro 1.40 each. It is so easy and takes away the hassle of trying to drive in and park, which is very expensive. Also on the bus you will see a different way of life, not so well off in these parts of the city.
We like Campaniles as they give good value for money, the staff here are very friendly, helpful and reception speak excellent english. If you stay here ask for a room backing onto the trees and facing south, as the room will be cool when you get back in the evening. The air conditioning is ok but does struggle a bit if you like your room really cool. Another reason we like campaniles is the fact that you open your door onto outside not a horrible corridor. Top floor is even cooler in evening.
The restaurant is modern and has a small bar which is great for the cool drink. Temperatures were over 34 degrees when we were there. Food is as you would expect, good dish of the day, good buffet, and adequate desserts.
The un comme hamburger is really good, the one we had was not in bread but in blinis which really added to the great taste.

By the appearances, this hotel is in the middle of an upgrade or refurbishment project.
As with other Campanile establishments, this one has a respectable restaurant...in which breakfast is also provided. It appeared that new staff were in training as there was some confusion about which rooms were serviceable...when we arrived.
For a 1 or 2 night stopover close to the city...it's probably okay...but be warned the beds are hard....so if you have a sore back from driving..try another accommodation option.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the outside air conditioning system.

If you want to be within 5 min of the train station this is your place. It's not next to any tracks so you don't hear the noise from te trams it the train and it's not directly in front do you're a bit away from the chaos of the station.
When you walk in you're greater with a clean, modern environment wih helpful staff. The Taft at the front desk can be a bit impatient at times esp if you only speak English but take you're time and you'll figure it out.
The rooms are clean, and the beds are firm and comfortable.
If I wanted to be near the train again I would def stay here. It's a 5 min train ride to the town center and there's a great little bakery around te corner and parking in the building.
