“Wow, what a place!”
Reviewed June 15, 2014

Yes, booking essential, the restaurant is small although it has some tables outside and the cuisine is outstanding!
The couple who served, I assume they were the owners ,worked incredibly hard ,no customer was ignored or neglected. The kitchen is on next floor so the lady of the house must have run a marathon distance up and down in one evening.
The selection of dishes is small but what flavours! I was curious about poached egg in Gorgonzola sauce and ready to criticise until it arrived. Fabulous!
Husband's duck looked a picture and he pronounced it delicious!
Not only food but an attitude of the couple working there impressed us .
If we ever come back we would love to see slightly larger selection of white wine on offer.

“Perfect!”
Reviewed June 15, 2014

What a delightful experience! Be sure to make a reservation. We tried walking in early on a week night, and they were already booked. The reason is: this place is great and the service is fantastic! If you like pate, theirs (homemade) is outstanding. I had oxtail for the first time in my life, and returned later in the week to have it again.
We chatted with the owners who also wait on customers, and they are very helpful in suggesting wines that pair well with your food choices--some pointing required, since my French almost non-existent! However, they have English menus.

“We were so glad we had booked - it was so good, so don't just roll up.”
Reviewed June 11, 2014

We had booked our table for two for dinner and were so glad we had. There were a number of people who hadn't and so they didn't enjoy the high quality food and service that we did. All three courses (scallops, pork and flambe) were excellent and the service matched it. Easy to see why this rates so highly. if you want to enjoy the same experience as us, DO BOOK or expect to be turned away - disappointed.

“First rude encounter in 2 weeks in France”
Reviewed June 11, 2014 via mobile

Firstly if you do want to experience this restaurant make sure you make a reservation.

We arrived after reading the great reviews. It was clear there were not enough staff and after waiting a while for the waitress to free up we asked for a table for two and mentioned we didn't have a reservation. She just walked off and started talking to someone else. When she saw that we were still standing she rudely said no reservation no table.

“Local, home cooked & fantastic”
Reviewed June 8, 2014 via mobile

This extraordinary little restaurant, located in quiet square, is operated by a charming couple. The menu is limited but the dishes are exquisite. The lady of the house, who speaks some English, was very helpful in helping us decipher the choices as well as making recommendations for wine. Service was excellent & the food exceeded our expectations. Good value, a must try when in Bordeaux. Reservations highly recommended.
