“First rude encounter in 2 weeks in France”

Firstly if you do want to experience this restaurant make sure you make a reservation.

We arrived after reading the great reviews. It was clear there were not enough staff and after waiting a while for the waitress to free up we asked for a table for two and mentioned we didn't have a reservation. She just walked off and started talking to someone else. When she saw that we were still standing she rudely said no reservation no table.

“Local, home cooked & fantastic”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 8, 2014 via mobile

This extraordinary little restaurant, located in quiet square, is operated by a charming couple. The menu is limited but the dishes are exquisite. The lady of the house, who speaks some English, was very helpful in helping us decipher the choices as well as making recommendations for wine. Service was excellent & the food exceeded our expectations. Good value, a must try when in Bordeaux. Reservations highly recommended.

“An Excellent Choice”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 28, 2014

Having visited five other restaurants in Bordeaux Bistro l'Exploit was by far the best. The welcome was warm and friendly, the starter, the main coarse and the desserts were excellent both in taste and presentation. The service was professional and very helpful when it came to advising on the menu, there was no pressure to vacate the table!
Thoroughly recommended.

“Best of the best”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 21, 2014

Just returned from an 8 day wine tour of Bordeaux eating out very night at excellent restaurants. l'Exploit was way ahead of the rest. From the time we arrived till the time we left everything was first class. We were five in number with various starters main and desserts and every course was excellent. Soufflés were to die for!!!!!!! The female owner was front of house and her partner was the chef - nothing was too much trouble to either of them. Book in advance to make sure you don't miss out on the best of the best!!

“Good food/ good ambience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 16, 2014 via mobile

Four of us visited this restaurant and there were 4 great entrées; 1 brilliant main; 1 really good main and 2 average mains of swordfish. However, of two deserts, two were magnificent, notably the soufflé which must be ordered at the start of the night. The patrons were delightful hosts. Good wines and nice tea.
