A splendid B&B where you can be assured of a warm welcome in a lovely, artistically and tastefully decorated house close to the centre of Bordeaux. Our room was spacious, bright, clean and extremely comfortable with complimentary tea and coffee making facilities, air conditioning, a mini bar/fridge, luxury bathroom and king size bed. Very stylish and of high quality. Breakfasts were excellent and varied each day including homemade cakes and fresh fruit. Daniel and Caroline are a very nice couple and their dog, Orion, while large, was quiet and very well behaved. (I was a little worried when first heard that they had a big dog as I'm rather uncomfortable around dogs, but I was very soon relaxed and he's a lovely dog who's so gentle and tranquil.) Small pool in the garden was pleasant after a hot afternoon of sightseeing. Overall - highly recommended.

From the moment we arrived we felt welcome. In fact even before that, because as we walked into a flower shop with our luggage to seek directions to the address, who was buying flowers there, but the owner of the Villa Saint-Genes. He introduced himself and led us to his place. Other reviews have adequately described the property. What I would add is that the warm hospitality of our hosts and the pleasant companionship of their dog made for a very comfortable visit. We enjoyed the dinner one night and it was excellent. Waiting at the dining room table one early morning, hearing our hosts singing to the music of George Trenet's La Mer as the radio played in their kitchen while they prepared our breakfast provided a special warmth to the experience. I don't hesitate to recommend the Villa Saint-Genes.

From the moment we arrived, the four of us, knew we had booked the right place. We were warmly welcomed by Daniel and Caroline, and Orion the most handsome and gentlest black dog. The rooms with ensuites were large and immaculate. The house has been beautifully renovated, artistically decorated, together with Carolines amazing sculptures. if only we could buy and take some of her pieces home with us. Our hosts quietly, put much of their personality and effort, without being obtrusive, by being amazingly helpful and so generous in many ways. They exceeded all of our expectations.
The location of the B&B to the city is only a 10 minute walk into the city centre, or easy acess by a good tram system. Best to buy day tickets. There is so much to see and enjoy in Bordeaux, with the history, restaurants and so many Chateau's to visit in the wine areas.
We intend to return to Villa St Genes in the future, but with this place being highly recommended, we will have to book early, to ensure we get in!

Room Tip: Every room is a good room.

It was our first visit to Bordeaux. Myself and my wife had very nice stay there. Close to tram station, a few mins by walk. Host family, Daniel & Caroline, is so welcoming. The room was spacious and clean as others saying. Moreover, hair dryer was powerful and air conditioner was silent. Free WiFi and shower were also working well. The dinner (reservation mandatory) was so nice. We had the nicest home-made local cuisine. I absolutely changed the bad image of France to good. Breakfast was also nice, especially cakes. There must be our hiding place in Bordeaux.

Myself and my wife stayed in the Lagon room at Villa Saint Genes for a 2 night stay, and had a lovely time. The room was great - very large, clean and tastefully decorated - the house beautiful and full of original features, and Daniel and Caroline were very welcoming and helpful hosts. Tram stop is about 50 metres away, and a 10 minute trip to the centre of Bordeaux. I would definitely recommend staying here if you are visiting Bordeaux.

Room Tip: Only 2 rooms, both lovely. Lagon is the larger room and faces the street, but not noisy.

We felt very at home in this lovely B'n'B, the rooms were extremely spacious and very comfortable. It's been beautifully renovated, with a bathroom we wanted to take back to London with us! Hosts were lovely, very welcoming and great at offering local advice, as well as providing us some tastings of the local produce. Overall a great stay!

Villa Saint Genes from the outside looks like an unpretentious residence on an unpretentious street outside the city center. But once inside you are greeted by a charming couple (and their companionable dog, Orion) who have created a beautifully appointed interior with garden and small swimming pool in the back. The bedroom we had was spacious and extremely comfortable with classic tall French windows — a nice mix of modern and old. The decor is generally subdued, restful colors. Lots of amenities: robes, slippers, thick towels, tea service, quality toiletries, reading lights at bedside. Superb king bed and bedding. Breakfast was outstanding with fresh pastries and breads and various quality accoutrements.

The Villa is also a table d'hôte which means they will provide dinner. We went for it, having the feeling that they are both excellent cooks, and we were astonished by what was provided — a four-course dinner that included apéritif, baked oysters on the half-shell, fresh sea-bass (bar), a mix of fresh vegetables lightly cooked, a homemade apricot tarte, all for a mere 25 euros per person. Oh, and 2 good wines included. I'm sure there are many good restaurants in Bordeaux, but this was a great option for a rainy night.

As mentioned, the Villa is a little outside the center, which is good for escaping noise and hubbub, and there is a tramway stop just at the end of the block that quickly and pleasantly takes you to most interesting destinations in the city.

There is a schoolyard just beyond the Villa's pretty garden, so expect the sound of children's voices from 8-8:30 am on schooldays. Not intrusive, however.

This is a great option to expensive hotels, with high quality at much lower cost, and brings a more personal kind of experience to the visit. The hosts, Daniel and Caroline, could not have been more cordial and helpful in every way, even providing us with an extra carry-on case for overflow luggage. Highly recommended. And Orion is a love.
