My fiancé and I spent two nights here only just last week (mid July) and were delighted with our choice in staying here. This is a newly renovated old terrace building that has been renovated to an excellent standard while losing none of it's old charm. We stayed in the larger of the rooms and were delighted with the space and thought the decor was very chic which ties in excellently with what Bordeaux has to offer. All mod cons included in the room, including an espresso machine, iPod speakers and antique french furniture which was a lovely touch. The bathroom was also superb, huge walk in shower, very comfortable all round.
10 minutes walk from the centre of the city which was perfect as it was nice and quiet at night yet not too far from the hussle and bussle of the city.
Jean Marie, our host for the few days, was a pure gentleman, assisting us finding an excellent restaurant, providing a glass of wine in the petite garden upon arrival, and allowing us to print our boarding passes for our flight home on his PC which avoided major panic for us! The best thing I found about Jean Marie was that he was non intrusive, which I loved and I think is very important. He provided a perfect service without the annoying 'overhelpful' questions and comments that you often encounter in such a place. But when we needed him he was there straight away providing excellent advice.
The breakfast by the way was top notch, better than most breakfasts I have come across while staying in hotels in France. Beautiful is the word i'd use. The previous post mentions homemade jams and I want to mention them also - WOW!! The nicest i've ever had.
I'd recommend this to anyone, and especially couples because it's quite a romantic place to stay. Why go to Bordeaux and stay in a boring/typical hotel when you can stay in a place that brings you into the heart of the French experience?!
