“A lovely evening and excellent value”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

We saw Tante Charlotte while strolling round the old pedestrian historic centre, and thought it looked great. The decor is modern, in gentle dove shades with soft candle-light. It's a good idea to book, as there are not many tables, and it was completely full by mid-evening. Yet there was no sense of rush or fluster. Arnaud-Olivier is utterly charming and welcoming. He clearly takes enormous pride in his restaurant, and gives a great deal of time and attention to helping diners make their choices. The menu options are superb, and we both enjoyed the dinner very much. The food was very good, and beautifully prepared and presented. The magret the canard was excellent, as was the smoked salmon which was served in an exceptionally generous portion. We chose a complete menu option, and were amazed at the good value involved, as it included aperitif, several courses, and wine options. Relaxed ambience, great music. Highly recommended.

“Romantic and great value!”
Reviewed June 28, 2013

Atmosphere is very romantic and we loved the music! Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Great location in the middle of city center. Food was very enjoyable; although, not my favorite dessert options. Excellent value: aperitifs, 3 courses, bottle of wine and coffee/tea for two for less than 70 euros. Menu in French but staff able to translate well.

After reading the reviews from both French and English-speaking diners, we decided to eat there last Thursday. We arrived at 19.45 and found only one other couple in the restauran,t but were made very welcome and given a detailed explanation of the menu choices and appropraiate wine.
We chose the all-inclusive menu including aperitif, choice of good wine, 3 excellent courses and coffee. The food was excellent, the service very discreeet but helpful and the ambiaqnce delightful. During the course of the evning, the resataurant filled, with many diners arriving towards 22.00.
I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant but suggest booking, as several people were turned away (very politely!) as all tables were already bboked.

Superb food and impeccable service. The 34.50 euro menu (I think - from memory) with an aperitif, 3 courses and a decent bottle of wine is really good value for money. Quite small so booking may be advised especially in the high season - people were being turned away when we were there.

“Wonderful Tante Charlotte !!”
Reviewed May 24, 2012

This small but atmospheric restaurant was one of our little gems in a week in Bordeaux. The Host, ambience and food were all excellent. Despite arriving a little early in the evening we were warmly welcomed and the 35 euro menu including apertif and wine was excellent value and great quality. The apertif of champagne and cinnamon was indicative of the tastes to come. All in all a lovely evening in a modern stylish setting with a little light jazz as background great !
