“Very nice location”
Reviewed June 13, 2013

Clean, modern hotel with convenient and reasonably priced parking located just in front of the hotel. Terrific view of the riverfront from the top floor restaurant/observation deck. Easy walking distance to restaurants, wine bars, waterfront (across the street), museums and gardens.

This is a well situated motel that is clean and modern with comfortable beds and thick duvets. The room is nice and dark and the air conditioning keeps it cool for sleeping. The shower had good water pressure and a hair dryer is provided. Neat view of a beautiful city from panoramic roof top restaurant. A comfortable stay.

I have stayed at a large number of Mecure hotels worldwide and this one would have to be the most minimalist if I have stayed in. The room was a good size with a bed, but that would be it, apart from two chairs and a sort of table, with bare white walls and a view out to a neighbouring roof with nesting pigeons.. Many Ibis's I have stayed in are better decorated than this one, but then this is Europe where hotel rooms are expensive and small. Thankfully the WiFi is inclusive but you have to log in with names and email address EVERY time you use it, surely their IT people can make it as easy to use as those in the majority of hotels I stay in. It's not likely I am going to camp outside the hotel and use their Internet illegally.. Would I stay here again, probably not as its not really cheap either.

Room Tip: Can you get a room with a view, it might be a good question to ask.

Such friendly reception staff made our trip to the Mercure even better.
Unlike others we prefer the separate w.c. Good size room and the secure parking
a bonus - if not rather expensive and yes it was hard to find
Enjoyed our stay at the hotel and if we are back in Bordeaux, would definitely
say there again.

My wife and I stayed for four nights to celebrate our wedding anniversary and we were not disappointed! The staff were particularly helpful and friendly; all requests were dealt with efficiently, and the room was always cleaned to a high standard. Although breakfast was not cheap at 16.50 E per person, it was of high quality and there was a wide range of choices.

Just two criticisms of the room; (i) the WC was separate from the bathroom and therefore should be equipped with a hand basin; (ii) there was not enough storage space; we would have liked more space for cases and a chest of drawers for smaller items of clothing.

Regarding the garage, a "season ticket" for 48E for the four days was very useful. However, getting between the garage and the hotel involved a walk across an unprotected courtyard (which for us meant on most occasions walking in the rain!). Perhaps there could be a covered walkway between the hotel and the lift to the garage?
And perhaps it could be better explained how vehicles can access the courtyard immediately outside the hotel entrance to drop off and pick up luggage; hotel staff require more training on providing this information.

Having stayed at other hotels in Bordeaux on previous occasions we were pleasantly surprised with this hotel. The check in was efficient and our room was ready on arrival at mid-day. The room was of a good size, clean and comfortable. Breakfast on both mornings of our stay was of good standard. The staff we found to be attentive, helpfull and polite on all occasions. The only minor point would be the air conditioning in the room which didnt seem to function too well as it did get rarther warm at night. On the whole a pleasant stay with only a 10 minute stroll to the centre and a hotel we would revisit.

True to form, the Mercure provides a decent basic bed for the night, but whoever designs the decor (in all the Mercure hotels) needs a lesson in the meaning of chic. Garish plastic sofas and furniture show lack of taste and cutting corners and don't make any contribution to a feeling of relaxation. On the contrary, the very sight of such uncomfortable seating makes one scurry back to one's room. Why does the Mercure have to choose furniture that belongs in a kindergarten playroom? Accor hotels clearly run on a shoestring - but cheap does not have to mean plastic...
This particular Mercure has the advantage of a beautiful view over Bordeaux rooftops in the breakfast room but the restaurant leaves much to be desired. Inattentive and inexperienced staff made dinner a rather sad experience.
At least, unlike others in the group, china mugs were provided in the room. That was a plus, but the lack of replenishment of tea and coffee (and dirty cups) on our second day was not up to standard.
The secure garage across the plaza is the main reason for staying at this hotel.

Thank you for your comments regarding your stay with us and want to make some clarifications.
Indeed, the decor is completely redone in 2012 style trend in France and it is brand Kartell furniture, a brand whose reputation is well established and whose rates have nothing to do with furniture plastic which you speak.
However, we understand that this is a matter of personal taste and it is possible that modern design does not please you.
Regarding our staff, we actually train young adults in the restaurant business but they are always supervised by our permanent staff.
On the other hand, we have noted that you enjoyed our beds, our panoramic view for breakfast and our secure public parking.

sincerely
