“nice little hotel next to the town centre”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 7, 2013

Hotel Le Chantry was chosen on the basis of price, and closeness to the city centre. Actually we were working at the University but this was a short trip along tram ligne B.
The rooms were clean, some minor quibbles (the window lever didn't work very well, but it worked). It might be a bit warm in the summer. The shower has the strongest pressure I have ever seen! - so the bathroom was excellent. Lots of room for luggage, clothes etc. (lots of coat hangers).
The breakfast buffet could've been better for 9 euros - perhaps some fresh cheese, rather than the wrapped stuff, but the staff were very friendly and helpful. I'd come back again.

We booked this hotel because it has (free) parking, not so easy to find in the city. The location is also great, a few minutes walk to the old town. We arrived very late, but were pleasantly surprised to find a restuarant on the same street still open (I think it must have been 10.30 pm). The room is ok, has carpet though which is not my favourite, but it was not dingy at all. Bathroom was ok. Slept well. Breakfast rather weak by northern european standards, but then the French are not big eaters for breakfast. Young man in reception who greeted us at night seemed to know no English, good think I know a couple of words in French. I would came again if I have a car. It is also weird that these cheaper type of establishments ask for payment right at check-in, I suppose you can ask to see the room anyway before paying.

Me and my boyfriend stayed at the citotel le Chantry 4-7 December and we were drawn to the hotel because of the excellent price and location. The hotel exceeded our expectations and I thought it was excellent value form what we paid (200 Euros between us for 3 nights). Breakfast is available at a small suppliment if you wish (we didn't go for this however I believe it is a continental breakfast).

Location: 15-20 mins walk into the city centre or 5 mins to the nearest tram stop (by the nearby shopping centre) and a 5 minute tram ride. Do not be put off by the walk, it really isn't far and there are lots of shops, cafes, bars and nice views along your way.

Rooms: Basic looking and a bit retro but very clean. The bed was very comfortable and there is a TV, desk & chair, mirror, telephone etc. My bathroom unfortunately had no bath but it did have an AMAZING shower (excellent water pressure), some toiletries provided (shampoo, shower gel & soap), plastic cups and a hairdryer. There is an extra blanket & pillow in the wardrobes.

Tips: Go to the big supermarket in the nearby shopping centre. LOTS of choice of wines, cheeses etc... all at much cheaper prices than the shops in town.

All in all a wonderful stay, thank you :o)

We spent two nights here. Our party of four had two double rooms and we had a dog who stayed for free but was not allowed to be left in the room alone. There is a lift. The front lobby has a coffee maker.

Free parking in a secure lot attached to the hotel. Free Wi-Fi which worked. If you don't want the hotel breakfast, there are a couple of bakeries and coffee bars within 10 minutes walk. There is a good restaurant, Solena, about 5-10 minutes walk (turn right coming out of the hotel entrance). The city centre is a 15-20 minute walk in a straight line left from the entrance.

For a two-star hotel, this exceeded our expectations : clean, modern, everything worked, the front desk was helpful and spoke English, and a very good price !

I stayed at this hotel 2 nights in November 2012, with my husband
Style: the hotel is modern. In the hall you can find a computer at your disposal, a billiard and some armchairs.
Location: 15 minutes walking from downtown. The hotel is near the cemetery, in a residential area.
Rooms: I had a double room: not very big but comfortable. The worst thing was the bed: a reduced queen bed I suppose (cannot measure precisely), however my husband and I are quite slim. Two overweight people may have some problems to sleep in. Independent heater / conditioner. Wardrobe was a bit narrow, however ours was a short staying. Good bathroom with shower.
Food: good breakfast with choice of pastries but short of bacon / eggs etc. No problem for me as I am Italian and never eat at breakfast this sort of things.
Staff: attentive and helpful (especially the girls).
The good: location and price
The bad: uncomfortable bed
Price: very good price € 63 per night with Expedia
Tips: ask for a high floor room, the road is a bit noisy.

We stayed 3 nights in a pleasant modern room with all the necessities. The main downside was the location for travellers relying on public transport. It was a 20min unsheltered walk from the city centre. There were no restaurants of note nearby although there was a big shopping mall about 10mins walk away open regular shop hours(not Sunday).Breakfast is available at the hotel and the reception staff were available 24hrs. We enjoyed our day trip to St Emilion and the wine district. We did this by public bus and there are also commercial bus trips you can book at the Tourist office. We recommend Le Table Bordelaise as a great place to eat, and a visit to the fresh markets of which there are several.

Great staff very friendly and helpful and there is always someone manning the reception. The hotel is quite close to the town centre with everything you need nearby. The bus from the airport also stops nearby (number 1). Would recommend - good value!
