taking the bike in bordeaux is a wonderful thing especially at night, you can feel how attractive this city is, more over the tour guide Clement gave us lots of information about the city that wouldn't be known in the tour guide book, if you go to Bordeaux, must try to take the bike in town^^

My husband and I made two tours with Bordeaux en velo and enjoyed both of them immensely. The city tour guided by Paulo introduced us to a Bordeaux not usually covered in standard guidebooks. Besides the accredited sights we were also introduced to interesting neighborhoods and every place we saw was anchored to a piece of history that illuminated the city for us. The tour to urban vineyards with a wine tasting at Pape Clement showed us surburban Bordeaux with its quieter streets and the amazing proximity of very fine wineries so close to the city centre. Riding tthrough the cobbled streets of old Bordeaux and then being able to be in a semi rural area with Chritiane was such a change from the usual van tours. If you can ride a bike this is the way to see Bordeaux old and present. The bicycles are in good shape and there are helmets available as well as rain gear coupled with two well informed and interesting guides. We are pleased to recommend this company and ts owners to anyone wanting a more interesting and dynamic way to see and explore Bordeaux

Christiane is a wonderful guide! She's exceptionally knowledgable about the city, its people and history. Her delightful sense of humor made the ride exceptionally fun.

If you are considering renting bikes in Bordeaux, I'd recommend taking a tour, first. The streets are so narrow and filled with pedestrians, cars, trams and scooters that biking can be daunting. After riding with Christiana, we not only knew where we were going - we had a nice handle on the unwritten rules of the road for bikers.

To rent a bike from the many stations throughout Paris and Bordeaux, I'd recommend setting up an account online first:http://www.velib.paris.fr/index.php You will need one account for each bike you want to rent. Bike kiosks are easy to use if you have an account. They are trickier if you try to set up an account on the street. Not all kiosks work and your credit card will need an electronic chip to work.

I am not the most confident biker in the world, even after Amsterdam and bike commuting in the States, but this city is really well equipped for biking around safely. The Velo club has tons of stations, tons o bikes to rent, and they are way affordable. Bike along the riverside up to the outlet mall and back and enjoy the people watching, or up through the city streets and shopping areas, there are bike lines everywhere and I have had good experiences with drivers and pedestrians.
