“Great way to get to know the city”
Reviewed September 2, 2012

Our guide Lisa was German with excellent English and she gave us a great tour of the city on a Sunday morning. It was just the two of us so we were able to take our own pace and ask questions, have a chat. I'd definitely recommend it to get your bearings, learn some history and spot some places that you want to come back and look at more closely

“Basic 2-hour tour is average”
Reviewed August 20, 2012

I am thinking/hoping the guide was new at this - boring facts, no personality, and couldn't answer most questions we had. Based on the other reviews you should make sure you do a day tour with the master tour guide, as this young french woman, while nice, didn't give us our money's worth. I think I could do a better tour reading a lonely planet chapter out loud. Disappointed.

“A brilliant way to see Bordeaux!”
Reviewed July 29, 2012

The guide took us all around the sights of Bordeaux - it was really informative and interesting! We were the only two people on the tour at the time which made it more personal. The only difficulty we experienced was booking - if there was an ability to book through the tourist office then that would have helped (they did phone but couldn't get through, and gave up!). In the end we asked our hotel to phone and book, which they did happily.

“Bordeaux by bike - fantastic”
Reviewed July 21, 2012

This is a great way to enjoy Bordeaux. Hiring bikes need not be tricky once you understand the system. You will need a credit card with a chip - most recently issued credit cards will have one. Make sure you have a pen and paper with you as you will be issued with several codes for accessing the bike, as well as the bike lock. Each bike you hire will require you to go through the credit card process again. However there is an English language option and the steps are simple to follow. Once you have your code you can grab your bike. Important - when returning your bike, make sure you hear the little buzzer beep. This indicates your bike is properly returned and the 200 euro bond (per bike!) will be credited to your card. Although his process seems tedious, it's not once you do it - and the bike paths of Bordeaux are safe, away from the traffice and make it easy to see the city. Bike hire is also very reasonable - which is the reason most French use the system. You honestly don't need to take a tour - be brave and try it yourself. It's a very rewarding way to go.
