“Le Boutique Needs to Pay Attention to Les Détailles...”
Reviewed August 8, 2013

The city of Bordeaux is experiencing an urban revival. since it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site, the old city has been beautifully renovated-- it is vibrant, full of young people, and has an excellent restaurant and bar scene. Le Boutique is an idiosyncratic and entirely pleasant spot for a short stay. The rooms are well appointed but even the superior rooms are very small. If you have any serious amounts of luggage, you will not enjoy having to carry your bags up the winding staircase, not to mention having no room to open your suitcase. The large flat screen TV at the foot of the bed was a welcome feature. More memorable, but perhaps less convenient, are the odd things--like an over-sized Jacuzzi bathtub in the middle of the room and no shower. We thought these were declared no-no's a long time ago.

Parking is a nightmare, as you will discover when you try to get to the nearby-but-difficult-to-access public parking at Les Grands Hommes mall. The interior garden courtyard at the hotel does provide a welcome hideaway from the noisy urban landscape.

The front desk staff is helpful and attentive while simultaneously being misinformed and blasé´: for example, we asked for a 6:30 wake up call, and they called at 6:45 with no apology; we asked them how long it would take to drive to the airport at 8 AM—they said at least 45 minutes to an hour—we were there in 15 minutes.

With a little more practical sense of what guests need and a lot less bling-bling, this hotel could actual be a great spot in Bordeaux.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to share your impressions regarding your recent stay at the Boutique Hotel Bordeaux
We thank you for your nice comment and your suggestion regarding our Hotel. We wanted to apologize that we were not able to make your stay the best one.

I just would like to bring you some details about your comments:
- Our rooms respond to the European standard and are all different depending on their location in the hotel and their category. You should ask us for a room more to your liking; it would be a pleasure for us to change of room for you.
- We have a special rate for our guest with a 200m parking which I think it is well indicated and easy to get as everybody tell us. Please tell me what was wrong in our indication so we may improve it .
- Regarding our front desk staff they always give 45 minutes to get the airport to make sure our guest will have their plane. I suppose you were lucky on this day with the traffic .

Our aim is to offer a consistent product and service to each and every one of our guests. We sincerely hope that we may have the opportunity of making amends for this less than satisfactory first stay.

I sincerely hope that we will have the pleasure of welcoming you back.

Please do not hesitate to contact me directly for your reservation.

Kindest regards,

Médéric Demelle

Our stay at Le Boutique Hotel was the first night of our honeymoon travelling across the south of France. What a place to begin! We were upgraded and given a fantastic room with excellent modern amenities including wifi, plasma TV, air conditioning and a brilliant jacuzzi bath. The staff were very helpful throughout our stay and the location of the hotel is really good, just a 2 minute walk from bars and restaurants. Would definitely stay here again!

We loved this hotel and all staffs working in this hotel, they are professional, friendly and polited as well. We got a room upgraded and stayed for 3 nights, and it is very gorgeous and nice, this hotel is located in convenient area closed to main downtown area.
Macarron, fruits, wine on the house are very delicious as well.
We think it would be good if they have a door for a separate shower room, otherwise, all if great!
Thank you very much to everyone working in this hotel to provide such a great services. We loved Bordeaux and this hotel. :)

We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay at this wonderful hotel, and really couldn't fault it...

All the staff were very friendly and attentive, starting with (the beautiful) Bastion who made us feel very welcome and explained to us the technology in our room (ie. how to work the TV, safe and AC... we'd left our common sense back in the UK!!!), the other reception staff and even the housekeeping. In fact the housekeeping were superb for both the daily clean and the evening 'turn down' service. All very efficient.

Our room ('Chateau Talbot') was spacious, clean and very comfortable. We particularly appreciated the period features that have been retained, and how they sat alongside some very funky little touches such as the bathroom lighting and the modern bedroom furniture. The french doors leading to the juliet balcony (and facing the street) were amazingly well sound-proofed... when closed we couldn't hear any traffic outside. In fact the room was very quiet and dark at night and, with the black-out curtains, meant we slept well! Plus, the bed was very large and comfortable.

In summary, brilliant city centre location, stunning period building, lovely rooms and great staff. We would definitely return when in Bordeaux again.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a Superior room, for a little more space

We recently stayed for two nights at this lovely hotel in Bordeaux. The staff were pleasant and extremely helpful. Our room was stylish & lovely, the bed was comfortable and we had a jacuzzi bath & Hermes toiletries as well. I would have liked a full length mirror but that was the only thing lacking in our room. The location was really good and we could walk to shops, cafes and restaurants. We really enjoyed our stay and should we ever be fortunate enough to return to Bordeaux we would stay at this gem of a hotel.

We stayed for three nights in a standard room and found the hotel as a whole to be charming and well kept, and the staff very friendly, but the room was small and impractical.

There was really no place to keep two large suitcases in the tiny room, and no chance to unpack into the one closet, so we constantly had to move things around, stacking things on top of each other.

Pretty much everything else was good, including the service both in reception and the cleaning, and we appreciated the Nespresso machine, the excellent air condition and a pleasant bed. Hermés soaps and toiletries was a nice treat as well.

Service was eager, friendly and helpful, but be prepared for everyone in reception rising to greet you and ask you what you're going to do today, and when you get back, how your day was. For us Nordic introverts it was a bit surprising at first, but we got used to it, and it was a good way to get to ask questions we might otherwise not have gotten around to.

All in all an ok stay. The staff was the highlight, but the small size of the room ended up dominating the experience. Given the price, which was fairly high, we conclude that it wasn't worth it.
