The site of a castle/ Fort that was destroyed during the revolution, today, this open space park host many civic events from a really great antique fair in Nov, to a Circus in January, to may events thought the year. Situated near the river it is a wonderful location to visit even when there is not a special event. Next the towns Tram center, makes an easy way to access may other areas of Bordeaux.

A beautiful regular place, but crossed by the tram lines (not a big deal) and a little too 'empty' for me (beautiful architecture, few shops and restaurants). The good thing is you need only to walk to one of the adjacent streets to find cafes, restaurants and shops!

The ambiance of the estuary in front of you, and all the history of Bordeaux behind you is awe inspiring. To see a huge liner docked gives a strange view of scale to the vista. This is also a place where fairs and exhibitions are held. Currrently you can weave you way through the antiques and bric-a-brac stalls - worth a visit

There was a carnival when we were there which made the square even more lively and interesting. Great for people watching.

Watched Quinconces Esplanade at youtube before my trip to Bordeaux, but when I saw the monument and the fountain, my first impression was "Wa, impressive!" Don't miss it, just a few minutes walking distance from the Grand Theatre.
