“Oyster lovers please do not miss this one!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 3, 2013

Oysters or huitres as they say in Bordeaux. PLENTY OF THEM. Here you can find them all, all types, all sizes, and have a meal of only fresh oysters. Do not ask them to cook oysters or they'll look at you as a mad person! Simply open them ad taste the sea. With a little choice of wines and some good terrines and pate, you'll simply get the best food ever. Simple and informal place. Staff is young and kind. The final bill was ok. Enjoy!!!

“Excellent Oysters and Tuna Pate. Friendly Staff. Clean.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 17, 2012

You'll want to use French if you can, as the guys in here speak nothing but, but it doesn't really matter. The menu is small and simple, and the staff are great.

We had the tuna pate and the variety platter of 4 kinds of oysters. The tuna pate was great and they didn't skimp on the bread to eat it with. The oysters were very good, and large enough to make it worth it.

If you want wine with your meal, there's some white to choose from, and one red.

Restaurant is clean top to bottom, as are the tables and cutlery.

A half-bottle of wine, oyster platter, and tuna pate ran 50 Euro. Not the cheapest place in town, but good atmosphere and good food.

“Packed, hot and frantic inside. OK, rather than brilliant, food.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 6, 2012 via mobile

Managed to get an outside table, as inside was stinking hot. Waiters were run ragged, even by French standards. Waited an age for our oysters and charcuterie to come out, while others who ordered later got their food, apparently because there is only one guy shucking oysters. Hmm. Food was fine but not brilliant. This was our most average dining experience in France.

“For Oysters, this is it!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 6, 2012

This is a great location, around the corner from the Grand Theatre on a quiet street. Go for the oysters, if you want something else, don't bother. The oysters are offered in different groupings, different types, different prices. We chose the Menu, injcluding a dozen oysters, some pate, bread, a glass of wine and dessert at a reasonable 18 euros. The oysters were from the north, salty and sooo fresh. You can eat outdoors or in the charming, immaculate dining room. Delightful!

“Boxes of Oysters”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 19, 2012

This is a great little restaurant once you've found it. Cool inside, clean, spacious and the staff are approachable and friendly. Just what you need when you've been trudging around the shops in Bordeaux in the heat.

The menu isn't confined to Oysters but there isn't much else on offer. My wife had a terrine with bread which was very satisfying with a crisp Entre Deux Mers but it was the oysters that stole the show.

On the day there were eight on offer so I went for a selection plate of 24. Clean, sweet, perfectly shucked and very fresh. Perfect.

Finding it was a bit of an issue as there was no sign on the restaurant the day we were there. If it isn't obvious its right next to another restaurant called the Chapeau Rouge. Don't miss it if you love oysters.
