Our visit to the mercure was included in our tour so we arrived at 8:00pm, and the line for the elevators was very long, meanwhile I visited the lobby area and it was small, colorful and cute with some bulldog decorations. The room was small, but clean with a coffe pot, some tea and water. The bathroom was small but clean also. The breakfast was in a small area with round tables and 1 table only with croissants juice and milk (I think it was a continental breakfast or it was very poor buffet). It was an average place to only sleep and continue our trip.

Rooms were too hot and had no ability to adjust the temperature. The thermostadt did not work. Service was friendly, but I would not stay at the hotel again. This is my 2nd stay. I will not stay again.

I just asked in the bar for a drink and was instructed where to sit. I was then ignored for 15 minutes before finally giving up and going to bed. Horrible grotty rooms. Dark, dingy, dirty and poorly finished. The whole 5th floor smelled of paint but the room had a damp smell. The bath surround is not finished properly and concrete floor is visible Shame, Bordeaux is beautiful but this place is a dump.

1:From the staion of Bordeaux Saint Jean it takes for 10 min by taxi.
Taxi fare was 8.80 euro(by meter) and 2 baggage charge was 4 euro
from station to hotel. However from hotel to station it was 11.60 euro
(by meter) not required baggage charge. Both fares were totally same.
Before getting on taxi, you should ask baggage charge.Meter:normal?
2:We didn't use a city tram which stop is near 3 min walk.Anyway you
can visit a downtown on foot from hotel.FYI:a grand theater(Opera
Natinal de Bordeaux) is 15 min walk,Place de la Bourse where you
can enjoy a lighted-up building in high season? no January :old stock
exchange building is 20 min.
3:Meriadeck shopping-center is a right side front of hotel,though it is a
little bit tough to find its entrance. Because, its out-side view is like a
warehouse building. There are a mini food court ,big super-market
(Auchan) and various shops. But no big restaurants.
4:No wine opner for wine-contry area's hotel.
5:TV:BBC,IKK(German?),maybe no CNN(I couldn't find it)

I recommend that you do not go and stay in this hotel where clothes disappear from your bathroom and nobody cares about your complaint! Also, they let people use a broken shoe shining machine by elevator, and you get your shoes ruined. A shame of a place! You cannot expect thieves from this type of hotel, but you should!

Would have been perfect had they had some food available for those of us who check-in after the bar is closed. I was starving and new to the area so did not fancy venturing out. So I would ask that they stock up on more nibbles for us workaholics.
Other than that it was perfect for the conference that was being held at this hotel. Some staff were better than others at the desk. But overall a very pleasant stay.

Were it not for the helpful staff at the desk, this would be a poor hotel. I am a bit stunned at the number of people on Trip Advisor who rated this as excellent. It is not. A few points...

1. The hotel is about a 1k walk to the action in the old quarter and is conveniently located by convention space.
2. The lobby looks reasonably modern. My hall and room looked like 1979.
3. My room was dirty. There were hairs stuck on the bathroom walls, dirty tile grout, and a large area on the wall where it looked like a coke/bottle of wine had exploded. The room smelled as well.
4. The staff at the front desk are friendlier and more helpful than average. I did not complain about the room, as I was traveling with a group who decided we wanted to focus on sightseeing more than complaining.

If you are coming here to crash for a night, or because you found the deal of the year, this may work. Otherwise, skip it.
