Description: Situated in the heart of the historical district of « Saint Pierre », the WINE BAR is a unique place in Bordeaux. In a warm bistro atmosphere, this authentic wine bar is an essential port of call for wine lovers, with its original selection of wines from all over the wold – a remarkable range of origins from the prestigious to the more modest, presented by Giancarlo. To enhance the selection of tastes and aromas, Emmanuel proposes a choice of italian cheeses and delicatessen, and regional products as foie gras, grattons de Bordeaux, Magret de canard...

“Fun, great selection of wines, good food”
Reviewed May 12, 2013 via mobile

We went to Le Wine Bar to experience their wine selection knowing it would be a light dinner. We weren't looking for a three course French repast. Seated at the bar (reservations are a good idea) we enjoyed several outstanding selections that highlighted the diversity of great Bordeaux (although they offer selections from most regions - their wine list is extensive), alongside simple and tasty small plate preparations - a caprese salad and a plate of southwest creations (pâté, duck, etc). "Dessert" for us was a glass each of a Maury and a Gewurtztraminer. Great for sharing which makes this a fun place for groups as well as couples. It was loud (but not obnoxious), the owners are friendly, flexible and 'roll with the evening' as it progresses - and prices are extremely reasonable for what they offer. During our stay the owner mentioned their recent write-up in Wine Spectator (which focused on Bordeaux) which we'd missed. We've been to many wine bars, and you just don't often get to experience the depth of wines with reasonable pours at reasonable prices in an intimate, fun setting. Good food, too!

“Impressive collection of world wines”
Reviewed February 28, 2013

For those wine connoisseur's among you, this may be your achilles hill when taking advantage of Bordeaux's expansive wine scene. Situated in the Old Town, its location adds to its ambience - a rustic intimate wine bar where good wine can be enjoyed. This does however come at a price (prices are slightly above the restaurant average but I suppose it is a specialised venue) - with the owner explaining to us that his particular license meant we also had to purchase something to eat alongside our wine (in spite of having just had a 3-course meal!). Thoroughly enjoyed the single glass of wine I had though and the owner clearly knows he's stuff.

Overall, and in my humble opinion, hype here on TA over Le Wine Bar is unfounded. I've visited better elsewhere but maybe that's just my good fortune.
