“Great Bordeaux experience at reasonable prices”
Reviewed June 20, 2012 via mobile

This is a lovely bar where you can try lots of different wines - it's self service and a fun concept. The wines are not top top quality, but starting at <1€ per taste they are fantastic value. We had the large mixed assiette platter between the two of us and grazed over two hours. It had great atmosphere post 8pm. It is right next door to the St Peter's church which is lovely. Would recommend this place - staff were very friendly and gave an intro to all the wines. Seems the wines as they are consumed - so we have new wines available for tasting as we sat there. They also provide complimentary tap water on request.

“Don't Miss Aux Quatre Coins du Vin”
Reviewed June 12, 2012

We had a great time at Aux Quatre Coins Vin. For 50 euros, we tasted 13 amazing wines from Bordeaux, Burgundy, and even Israel between us. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and care intensely about the wine they serve.

This is how it works: You put as much money as you want on a card and serve yourself at the mechanized wine counters, pouring a few mouthfuls, a half-glass, or a whole glass depending on how much you want to spend on each wine. I recommend also ordering a small plate of tapas to play with the tastes of the wines. (As other reviewers have noted, this is not a restaurant. It's all about the wine.)

This was one of the highlights of our time in Bordeaux. If you want the chance to experience wines you might never otherwise be able to afford, don't miss it.

A great little wine bar offering a good selection of wines whilst the hosts provided all the knowledge needed to ensure you selected the most appropriate for your palette.

“Great fun”
Reviewed May 22, 2012

So this is not really a restaurant--it's a wine tasting bar where they have 32 wines on tap (8 Bordeaux, 8 reds from the rest of France, 8 from other countries, and 8 French whites) and you put money on a card, then choose which ones you want to try. They also refund any leftover $ on your card when you're done, which is nice.

This place was a blast. The staff is very knowledgeable, and the wines were both very good and very reasonably priced. We went to another similar place in Bordeaux that was higher end, and frankly I liked most of the wines here better than any at the other place. They're also in the price range that I would realistically buy back home ($25-75 per bottle, roughly).

We also got a deluxe cheese and meat plate, which was HUGE--way too much food for 2 people. That wound up being our dinner (maybe that's why this place is listed under restaurants!), and after we were both stuffed we still left food on the plate. Perhaps my only complaint about this place is that it would be nice if the mixed plates mixed in some veggies, too.

Overall, this place was a blast, we wound up both drinking probably 20 different wines which were almost all excellent and which covered a great breadth of styles. And after both drinking well over 750 ML of wine each and stuffing ourselves on bread, meat and cheese, we got out of there for something like 65 EUR for both of us. Nice!
