During a short visit to Bordeaux with my friends we visited 'Les Provinces' twice. Both times we enjoyed the excellenty priced 3 course 'formule sympa' (a set menu) at €14.00 each.
There was plenty of choice on the menu and, together, over the two visits we sampled the mussels, seafood salad, seafood terrine, goats cheese, duck, beef, salmon, ray, chicken, crème brûlée and profiteroles!
The mussels starter ('moules') was excellent and its sauce was perfect with the copious amounts of baguette provided. Although the mains were good each time, the ray, salmon and duck were particulary tasty whereas the chicken and the steak were weaker. More sauce on the meat and fish, however, would have been better. For dessert, the profiteroles are an absolute must even if the crème brûlée is smooth with a perfect crack on top. Courses were very large and enough to satisfy the most hungry traveller—and I can assure you, we were ravenous.
On both occasions the service was excellent and the staff were very friendly.
Perhaps the only thing to note here is that the restaurant is fairly casual but for what you pay, you get *much* in return.
