“Not in the Centre”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 21, 2011

Presumed that this hotel was in the centre, but fooled by the name. The hotel itself is very clean and modern, nice rooms bar and eating area. However it is in the middle of the red light district. This means that to get to the train station you have to pass the prostitutes and pimps on every corner.

We stayed here for one night and primarily chose this hotel due to its proximity to the train station which we were using to travel through to Paris the following morning. What I liked about this hotel is that although it was cheap it provided everything you needed with style, the decor was modern and fresh, and everything was very clean. It is close to the tram stop so has easy access to the centre, and is just a 5 minute walk from the train station.

There is a restaurant in the hotel which we didnt use, but the dining and bar area was very nice and we did enjoy a drink outside on the patio on our one evening there.

If you are catching a very early train beware of all of the drunks wandering up the street outside of the hotel at around 5am, they seemed harmless enough but I hadn't realised how close we were to a nightclub until then!

This hotel does what many hotels fail to do, it delivers all the basics with a little bit of style. The design is sharp and unfussy; the rooms are bright and clean; the beds comfortable. What we liked about the breakfast was that it presented a small menu, with freshness as the goal. The little bowls of fruit were especially welcome and the 'petit croissant' melt in the mouth. The staff were helpful and friendly and the location near but not directly opposite the train station made it convenient but without the noise. Maybe not for the romantic break but better value and more comfortable than most hotels in the same bracket, which often disappoint.

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for a double bed, if you are a couple, or may get a twin.

Being so close to the train station, this hotel was ideal. The city centre was also not far away, but we tended to get the tram, the stop for which is also very close. Rooms are small but clean and functional. It's not trying to be something it's not - it's basic, but modern, well designed, and well formed! The only downside that it could get quite noisy outside 4am-6am ish when people are leaving a nearby club (I think we were at the back of the hotel, so I can't say whether it's quieter at the front or not). Woke me up on both nights. One night was worse than the other, but I am a light sleeper, and this doesn't seem to have bothered other reviewers. Lovely shower though, and the breakfast has a lot of different options - great!

We booked the hotel through Bordeaux Tourist Office's Discovery package, which is frankly a BARGAIN - 105 euros each for two nights in a two star hotel (the cost is more if you want more stars), you can pick from a selection of hotels, and you also get a guided tour of the city, a tour round a couple of vineyards, travel passes, museum passes, and wine tasting at a bar in the city. The tourist office is the best I've ever come across, so it's worth checking out their website for this deal.

Nice Hotel, has everything I needed for a business trip. Very close to the railway station and a decent base. It doesn't have nice views or anything like that, its just a nice hotel, friendly(ish) staff, all amenities required for a 1-2 night stay, as a business trip. Would not recommend for couple or family, more suited to solo person. Like all city train stations, they tend to attract some unsavoury characters, particularly at night, I didn't get any hassle or anything just some drunk's looking for a light and others begging. It wouldn't stop me staying there again as an individual but it would stop me bringing my family.

Excellent hotel. Arrived into main Railway station at 10:30PM, Five minute walk to the hotel (cross the tram tracks. Turn right towards the "Best Western" sign.
Superb staff. Very clean rooms. Tea and coffee facilities. No complaints at all. Great value for money.
