We enjoyed a lunch for two at Ragazzi - it has a fine location on Quai Richelieu and friendly service. Just a main course each, a good pizza chorizo and an excellent spaghetti with olives and anchovies, just the right mix of oil, pasta and accoutrements. Decent house red and rose by the glass, lunch for 39eur. Recommended if you fancy a change from salad/confit de canard prix fixe.

Ive been here a few times, but mainly more in its sister Restaurant Chez Peppone. Both restaurants are always busy, thou if you have to wait for a table this one you end up spending some time standing on the street.

I used to really like the food here. Its still really good. However I had a pizza there yesterday and it seemed more oily then usual. The pesto is usually amazing here, but I was let down yesterday, its like they went to town with the olive oil.

I didnt have dessert yesterday and I could barely finish the pizza. But the desserts are amazing.

I think what keeps people coming is the food. However I cant be bothered with how busy and rushed it is and I have found other places in Bordeaux with equally good pizza and less of a rush.

The customer service is alright, but always rushed (thou the speed of the food coming is not as fast). Its more of a case you could be waiting a while for someone to come and then they are gone quickly. The tables are close together so you are on top of other people. Its a shame I really use to love this restaurant, but lately just not as much as I used to.

Another thing to watch is the wine. Yes they have a nice cellar downstairs....however if your not watching, your inexpensive 12 euro pizza, can end up a meal costing 50 euro. The desserts, coffee and wine add quite abit onto the meal. Its worth it for birthdays, and other special occassions. Thou the pizza or main dish alone works out at good value.

A bonus is they do "dogy bags" if you cant finish your dish and want to take it home.

After I had been traveling around France for over a week, I had a craving for something other than the wonderful dishes I had been consuming- more traditional French fare. I felt like an authentic Italian pizza.
My husband I eye were walking on the street along the Garrone in Bordeaux and spotted an Italian pizzeria. It was bussling with young couples on the outdoor patio so we thought we'd give it a try. We entered the tiny restaurant and were told that we could sit at a very cramped (remember this is France) table indoors- we could wait around for outdoors, but I personally did not feel like waiting since the French tend to take hours on their meal.
We sat right next to a HUGE chunk of parmesean reggiano and other deli meats and sides. Yum- we were in the right place! We ordered a plate of various meats, cheeses, olives, breads, etc and were so pleased. Then we moved on to our mains- pasta for the hubby and pizza for me. My pizza was delightfully thin and true to the Italian pizzas I had when in Rome and Tuscany. It was topped with loads of fresh cheese, veggies and an overeasy egg. I still fantisize about it now back in Texas! My husband's dish was served with proscutto sliced on top right in front of us! How is that for fresh?
The only thing I did not like about the restaurant was the wine service, if you could call it that. If you cared to order a bottle they sent you down to the cellar where you could pick a bottle and tell the waiter to open it for you at the table- at a 'corkage' fee price. There was something that just didn't sit right after trying all the wonderful Bordeaux wines to pay a high price for some cheap chianti.
