Description: Opened in November 2007, this bold new venture has been a stylish addition to the Bordeaux restaurant scene. Located on rue du Palais Gallien, Les Sens Ciel – meaning 'the sky' – is a heavenly spot to sample local cuisine from Bordeaux and every region of France. The dining room has a discreet rustic-yet-luxe provincial ambience, and attracts fashionable locals along with elegant and well-heeled travellers. Les Sens Ciel's menu changes daily, and the freshest seasonal produce from the Archachon basin is used to create a variety of dishes that will please even the greediest gourmands. It goes without saying that Les Sens Ciel also has a fabulous French-led wine list

We didn't know the restaurant but it was suggested to us by a friend. It was a pleasant surprise!! The menu was amazing. A true value for money. It is not a cheap restaurant, I would say a medium price list restaurant, but for the quality and the menu that is serving the prices are OK. It has a slow service, but for us it was OK because it is a concept that does not rush you to finish your food and go, but it gives you time to relax, enjoy the food and have a pleasant conversation and I think that this is part of the restaurants magic. The waiter was well informed, very helpful and polite and well informed about the wines that can accompany the plates. The chef always chooses the most fresh ingredients depending on the season and turns them into amazing creations. We went there 2 times and planning to go even more. I would suggest it without a hesitation for a very good, quality, slow dinner to enjoy with good company. The only thing I would change a bit is the restaurants atmosphere, a redecoration would make it perfect.

We made reservations but hadn't needed to as there were only a few others there (on a Friday night). The service was quite slow but perfectly adequate, the only frustration being a 10 minute wait to order drinks when we arrived. Strange as there was only one other couple in the restaurant at this point. Watch out - we had Mojitos which were exquisite but nothing like we were expecting - if anything they tasted of sake. The starters were average but the main course and dessert were excellent. The highlight for me was the dessert: La brousse de brebis avec cerises. Truly outstanding. This restaurant is definitely worth visiting (note that when we phoned to make a reservation the person who answered didn't speak English). Total cost for two inc aperitifs, wine, 3 courses & coffee €135.

We were visiting Bordeaux for the Leinster Clermont Heineken Cup Semi Final and had booked this restaurant because of Tripadvisor Reviews
Firstly we would not have got in on a Saturday night without booking
There were several people turned away when we were inside and also they dont seem to do more than one sitting per table per night
There is absolutely no rush with any of the courses
We were in total eating for about 3 hours with equally spaced gaps between the various courses
The menu is relatively limited in choice but we had no difficulty accomadating our various tastes - there were 4 in our party
The food was a very high standard and very well priced for this quality
Our bill was about €50 per head including wine and we went away extremely satisfied with all aspects of the meal
The food is less heavy and creamy than the more traditional French restaurant but excellent nevertheless
