“Great, authentic hotel”
Reviewed February 27, 2014 via mobile

I really enjoyed my stay here. My 5th floor room was light and airy, with ample storage space for all my clobber. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and gave the hotel a really authentic Basque feel despite it's large size. The lift is quite entertaining...I definitely recommend this hotel. The only down side is that there is no parking but if you come on the train it's perfect.

This hotel looks good from the outside. However it provides very basic accommodation .
Rooms are quite small, bathroom is very basic and is the only place with a power socket!
Wi-fi service simply doesn't work.
Biggest problem is the noise--- you can hear every movement inside and out.
Parking is only available beside the railway station.

Room Tip: Cannot be done.

Visited Bayonne in September after the peak of the tourist season so we did not suffer from the noise. The plus: its location (next to the train station & city center), the style of the building & elevator, rooms are fine although a mini fridge would be a nice to have, staff were welcoming & helpful. The minus: its price a bit expensive but it is the same with other hotels & lack of parking space (the one in front is overpriced). All in all not bad.

stayed for one night with friend - had a twin room above road (28 i think ) noise not a problem as double glazed ( used to very quiet sleeping - from the country! )

Beds comfy - free wifi worked pretty well - clean& modern with a great shower

looking into other rooms in corridor - would say some do look poky and dark - so ask to view room first

Gentleman on desk very friendly and spoke good english

parked on side roads nearby - train station convenient if necessary

easy 5-10 walk to Saturday market

The hotel is nice on the outside, but inside it is a dive. Pokey, scruffy room for 4 people, small uncomfortable beds with shabby bed linen and blinds which don't close properly. The lift was a bit temperamental and very small, so had to walk up to 3rd floor with cases after having to park in the railway station car park, 100m away! Not a pleasant stay, even for one night, in fact on our return to Bayonne we stayed somewhere else.

The location for catching the train to St Jean is excellent. There was nowhere close by open so we could not eat as we arrived late. We had a room for 3 or 4, very cramped small bath. It served its purpose but that is all it is really for. Don't stay here if you are vacationing in the area.

Quirky old hotel across the Square from Bayonne station. Comfortable rooms accessed by an enormous old-school staircase (there is s lift). Adequate breakfast with disappointing coffee. Don't dine here; wander over the bridge to the restaurants clustered on the far side. Victor Hugo is s good bet.
