I was visiting for a weekend with my nephew and his wife while travelling on business. We had an exceptional experience at La Cuiller a Pot from beginning to end. When making a reservation, the Saturday night we wanted was not showing as available on their internet page, so I sent an e-mail and received a prompt confirmation. On arrival we were greeted with a smile and escorted to our table. The restaurant was full but it is not large so it was not noisy. One could easily carry on a conversation. The menu is written on a chalk board and is largely based on what is fresh and available. Selections varied between meats and fish and the host was able to translate all to english if necessary. She was also well versed on the wine list, which was not extensive but was certainly broad enough to please most tastes. Our foie gras poelle appetizer was to die for! As we reminisced about our weekend on the train when leaving it was unanimous that that was our favorite thing of the entire weekend. One of us also had the excargot appetizer which was also excellent. Two of had the tuna steak entree which was also excellent and was accompanied by spinach and polenta. For dessert we had the cafe TRES gourmand, which included a sampler of 6 desserts along with a coffee. It was more than enough for the 3 of us to share to have a nice sweet ending to the meal. Overall prices are reasonable and the food was excellent. The owners and staff were also very friendly and speak very good english if necessary (and tolerated my franglais very well). I would return to Strasbourg just to go back to this restaurant.
