On our first night in Strasbourg we came across this place on a quiet back street. We were just looking for something simple and affordable as we'd been travelling all day. It's not easy to see in from the outside so we took the plunge and made our way through the thick curtain to keep the chilly Winter wind out and arrived in a wonderful place. Cosy and warm we asked for a table, the patron looked around and saw a couple on a table for four, immediately told them they were moving to a smaller table for dessert and we were seated in short order after that. The style of this place really follows that kind of idea, the food is big and hearty, the service is good but you have to take everything the patron says with a pinch of salt. When my mother announced she was a vegetarian he said without a break "We don't like vegetarians" but was served with a great concoction from the kitchen which was delicious. You've got to be prepared for a bit of banter but overall the feel of the place is warm and welcoming. Bring a healthy appetite though as the portions are massive.
