“Very nice hotel, just seems a little far from the city”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 26, 2013

Overall a good hotel but on balance I think you could find better choices in Strasbourg.

The hotel itself has been very nicely renovated and considering it's a 3 star property feels very luxurious. Service was excellent, staff were knowledgeable, friendly and eager to help.

Where for me there were a few faults with the hotel were:

1) Breakfast. Breakfast is very good with a wide selection but as a bit of a late riser, I got there about 10am, I found each morning some items would be missing. This isn't a problem I'm sure if you arrive for breakdfast early.
2) Bed linen seemed to be of poor quality and didnt match the very high standard of the rooms. Rooms themselves are very comfortbale.
3) Location. It's a 15/20 minute walk to the centre. 20minutes to COuncil of Europe/EU Parliament. In itself that isnt a bad thing but you do feel you're walking away from action, which is Strasbourg is pretty timid.

On reflection, if I were to visit Strasbourg again I would stay closer to the centre of town.

It was a greay single night stay at this cozy hotel of chateaux hotels chain.Modest sized rooms were equipped with Bathtub, leather sofa in room, water bottle and in-room breakfast service. Breakfast menu on buffet could have been better in terms of fresh hot items.
Hotel is placed near city center and railway station (Not really at walking distance, Tram is recommended). Also an highway access is close by. A well stocked cozy bar is good if you arrive in evenings.

Good hotel , was recently refurbished, clean, friendly staff........................................

BUT
1. Room was medium-small in size (too small for long stay)
2. Not a walking distance from the center
3. One tiny slow elevator

The hotel is in a very tastefully refurbished older house, which means smallish rooms, a tiny elevator. The style is what I believe to the French means "posh", that is, with pseudo-château furniture and fittings. But mind you, all in very good taste, nothing kitsch or fuddy-duddy about it, and all the equipments are up to date. The reception is friendly and courteous, the soundproofing excellent considering that the rooms look out on a busy boulevard. Noisy neighbours are heard only as they use the hall to go to their rooms. There are two parking slots in front of the hotel allow guests to unload their luggage, after which the car can be taken to the private car park, for which an extra fee is charged. It is a pity that the hotel is situated at some distance from the city centre, and there is no tram connection, and driving into Strasbourg in the evening is not all that pleasant an experience. Villa d'Est serves an excellent breakfast (buffet as has become usual) but has no restaurant, and there is not much opportunity for eating in the vicinity, but tasty warm dishes may be obtained via room service.

Loved this hotel! The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. They provided us with a city map for free while the tourist office charged 1 euro and had good suggestions of what to see and where to go. The room was small but very clean and nicely furnished, and the wifi was very fast. Breakfast seemed a little expensive but looked to be a nice spread, however there are many bakeries within walking distance. The train station and city center are about a 15 minute walk, but it was very scenic so we didn't mind. We were only sorry we couldn't stay longer.

A nice little hotel, typical french with beautiful decor. The room was tiny but up to date. Location was not so good, as the hotel did not have a restaurant and no nice restaurants around, you have a good 30min walk to the center to find something descent. They were understaffed and only 1 grumpy person in the reception who also took care of the bar. Although the room was good value for money, the extra charge of 20€ for our dog and 13€ for parking, it suddenly became quite expensive.
