“Nice Choice in Strasbourg”
Reviewed August 10, 2012

This charming hotel was a great choice for enjoying Strasbourg. It is a bit outside the main tourist arrea but only by a 5 minute walk along the scenic water. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. We did not like the first room offered to us and they quickly arranged for us to have a room more to our liking. The room was spacious, quiet, and comfortable. The bathroom was a good size with a decent shower. We did not eat breakfast at the hotel but the breakfast room looked nice.
There is an elevator but no air-conditioning. There is a charming patio in the front that is perfect for a drink or picnic lunch. It was good value for the money and we would stay there again.

Room Tip: Watch out for rooms on the very top floor - they have additional steep ladder-like stairs to climb u...

Service is exceptional I must say....if only the rooms were modern then it would be perfect. Breakfasts is simple but very nice bread! This hotel is extremely basic, but otherwise it was clean and a good 10mins walk to the town center.

If you get "transferred" here by another hotel, like we did, watch out. This is on the outskirts of the main district and not near the historical district. We took one look at the rooms and although clean, was far inferior to other hotels, especially for the price. When I later looked at the pictures and reviews, I was shocked because they did not represent what we saw. For the same price, we ended up staying at a hotel near the cathedral, watching the amazing light show, enjoying air conditioning, a lift, a modern bathroom, nice TV, and non arrogant staff.

We stayed at the Hotel Du Dragon for 2 nights in late June. The location was great for exploring the city. The desk clerk in the afternoon (Loren??) gave us some great dinner suggestion. He was quite helpful and even helpfully corrected our French. We took two adjoining rooms (one for my wife and myself) and one for our two daughters. The rooms were clean and (by european standards) very spacious. In general it was a quiet hotel. With the windows open we did get some street noise but it was not bad at all. We had an excellent breakfast in the hotel both mornings we stayed. The staff was just generally excellent and I can't thank them enough for their general help with our stay.

Room Tip: As we were a family, I emailed the hotel to enquire about adjoining rooms or a family room. They res...

We stayed here for 2 nights in 2009. Very friendly people and great recommendations for restaurants. We loved the decor and the location of this place.

we needed a place to stay for a week-end in Strasbourg, and a friend recommended Hotel du Dragon, right in the middle of the city. We arrived after midnight by car, and were welcomed with unexpected valet service by the lovely young man at the desk...
The room was spacious and had everything one could wish for. It was very quiet, as is the whole of the hotel, hidden from the main street but a stone's throw from the canal, and minutes from the Cathedral.
The day came with some lovely surprises:
we were delighted to find artworks all over the walls around the reception area, and some sculptures in the bright quaint breakfast room.
As we left through the terrace, where some guests were already having coffee, we were struck by the bright red exterior colour giving the Hotel du Dragon its name, which had not given its full effect at night. This stimulating and asserting appearance makes a surprising contrast to the soft and subtle greys of the interiors, which feel like a cool cocoon.
Being an artist/designer myself, I found staying at the Hotel du Dragon a pleasure for all senses,
and a gem of a hotel in an ideal position.

Room Tip: I don't have a specific tip but would encourage you communicating your desires with the wonderfu...
